**Edit 6/14: Update on the issue. Names will display in online games.  One of the more disappointing things to come out of the NCAA Football Community Day is the confirmation that edited roster names will not appear in online games on the Xbox 360 and PS3. This means for the people who manually edit the player names or import a full roster file, those will only be applicable for offline games. Everyone will be playing with QB #5, WR #82, DE #56, ect in the online games. Curiously, it ...
  • Good look at the state of All-Pro Football 2K8

I've been talking about many of the issues surrounding APF 2K8 for a while, and been taking some flack for it from 2K fans. Despite this, I felt that I was being fair, and presenting from a perspective that was relevant. When evaluating what 2K needed to do to break into the market and come away successful with a game such as this, I took a look at what they needed to do to achieve that back in March. They simply haven't come through on much, and in many ways gone backward...
  • Demo coming for NCAA Football 08

One piece of news coming out of the NCAA Football Community Day was that a demo for the game is being worked on and planned for release in early July. It will be available for both the 360 and the PS3. Hopefully the demo this year will offer a better experience than they had last year for the 360. It was made up of a full game only with one minute quarters. You couldn't get into any sort of flow with it, essentially making it a practice mode to get in a few plays before time expires. The am...
  • More screens from NCAA Football 08

A few more NCAA Football 08 screenshots have made their way out. Click the thumbnails below for the full size images.         What most stands out in these screens are the exceptional player models as well as the overall sharpness/brightness that seems to be prevalent. It also appears that the sideline activity was neglected to a certain extent, likely due to the sacrifices that had to be made to get the game to run at 60fps. Overall these are probably the best looking scre...

IGN has posted up an interview with associate producer for the Wii version of Madden 08. • Disappointment abounds after less than enthusiastic impressions of All-Pro Football 2K8

On Monday, the site allgames.com radio show did a segment on APF 2K8. By late in the evening, the thread at Operation Sports had nearly reached 350 replies. Multiple threads on the 2K forums were created, including ones with different theories and conspiracies about why the game wasn't being touted as the greatest thing ever. The first frustration came from sitting though a multi-hour show that everyone seemed to feel was completely worthless and embarrassingly bad. That likely didn't ...
  • EA to publish games for the Mac
    by
Posted June 11th, 2007 at 4:05 pm No Comments »
EA has announced that they will begin supporting the Mac with games starting next month. Soon after sports titles such as Madden 08 and Tiger Woods 08 will make their way out. I wonder what kind of a market there is for them? They seem to grudgingly release games on the PC and that has a much larger base to draw from. I wouldn't imagine there would be many potential sales but analysis must've shown they could profit off this decision....
