  • Patch for Madden 08 nearly here

I have been able to confirm that the highly anticipated patch for Madden 08 (360 and PS3) has reached the certification stage. That means should the testing be completed smoothly it will be released in the very near future. I would expect it within the next two weeks. This coming patch, as I noted about a month ago, is expected to address more highly publicized issues than the first patch did. That includes the abnormally high rate of fumbles and freezes in franchise mode. Once it is rele...
  • Comparing the player faces in the NBA games

Gamespot has posted a feature comparing the faces of a handful of players in the three NBA games and allowing for readers to vote on which is the best. You can check it out here. While the general consensus is that Live 08 has the best overall graphics of the three, 2K8 does have a better representation of some of the players, and NBA 08 is just plain out of its league in every comparison to an embarrassing degree. I pretty much agree with the way the voting went on each player, althou...
  • NBA Live 08 OTP competition to look forward to

I wanted to give some advance notice of a competition that will be held here at the site. Once the Online Team Play is released for NBA Live 08 there will be an event utilizing it on the Xbox 360. That should be out by the end of November, which would mean this will probably be held in early December. While it is publicized as allowing for a full five on five, it will actually open up the ability to play any combination up to it. In this case we'll be going two on two. Obviously this far ...
  • Backbreaker tech clips and developer diary

IGN has posted up a few new items for Backbreaker, the new football game coming from NaturalMotion. Included are three technical videos featuring the game's tackling physics and a developer diary that talks more about the tackling and what you are seeing in the vids. In many places Backbreaker is being viewed as more of a tech demo than a game. These short clips will reinforce that feeling somewhat. Eventually there will have to be more to the game than just tackling, even if it seems des...
  • The media freaks out over minor injury to Vince Young
    by
    Posted October 18th, 2007 at 3:00 pm 18 Comments »
Vince Young strained his right quad muscle in the game on Sunday against Tampa Bay and is currently listed as day-to-day. It is possible he may not even miss this weekend's game against the Texans. This news would be considered pretty minor in the grand scheme of things but that hasn't been the case as numerous outlets have jumped on the opportunity to proclaim that the Madden cover jinx has struck again! Apparently there was the need to reach for a story and this one was too convenient. ...
  • EA announces second cover featuring steroid user in less than a week

In a bizarre coincidence, EA has announced a new cover athlete for the Spanish language version of Madden 08, Luis Castillo of the San Diego Chargers. Last Thursday fellow teammate Shawne Merriman won the vote to be on the cover of NFL Tour. That means that in less than a week two players who have been either caught (Merriman) or admitted to (Castillo) taking steroids will be the new representatives for these games. Electronic Arts announced today that Madden NFL 08 En Español will be ...

Having gotten the cover announcement out of the way, several sites have provided hands-on looks at NFL Tour. There were also six new screens released today. Those can be found in a new addition to the site, the screenshot gallery. You can reach that via the header or by clicking here. There was also the previous Q&A with producer Phil Frazier from last week which provided initial details of the game, much of which is covered again in these hands-on previews. IGN Similar to Tecmo Bow...
