At the end of last month EA started up what should be a regular event with NBA Live producer Brian Ullrich. The "One on One" column features questions from the community in regard to NBA Live 09 or the franchise in general. 10 more questions have now been asked and answered but the following two were the most interesting in terms of changes for 09. 2.) "Any changes in the plan for icon passing?" A: Yes. We're going to get rid of the delay in them coming up and we're going to put the ...
  • Tecmo Bowl 2008 platform uncertainty

Tecmo Bowl 2008 was announced back in May of last year however since there has essentially been no follow up at all. Even where it's headed is in question as the only hint they gave at the time was how it would "probably not be on the platform that you’re expecting". In the January issue of EGM it was reported that the game was being made for the 360 and PS3. Now though the same publication is suggesting that it will be a Wii title. So once again we are back at square one wondering wha...

There will be a break from the weekly NBA Live 08 Online Team Play nights until right around the start of the NBA Playoffs which begin on Saturday April 19th. When the OTP nights return they'll feature playoff matchups with polls for one Western Conference and one Eastern Conference game. With the NCAA Tournament taking place and increasing difficulty in being able to attend each week it made sense just to hold off until then. I've really enjoyed the playing so I'll be looking forward to ...

When the first screens from NCAA Football 09 were released they were met with a level of disappointment. I expressed that when I questioned whether they were really from 09. EA Sports has now released two brand new screens that are intended to showcase the player models. NCAA Football 09 Art Director Jason Renfroe shares some details on what his team has done to improve the in game visuals and some of what you'll see in future screens of NCAA Football 09. On player models: "We've done...

EA Sports has released the first official trailer for NFL Head Coach 09. Some of the aspects of the game shown briefly include the play creator, free agent negotiation, coaching decisions, and actual on the field action. The game looks really good at this point and it definitely sounds like they're on top of the features and options that are necessary to make it work. Graphically it is such a drastic improvement over the previous Head Coach in every way including the on field action, sid...

EA Sports today announced that Michigan State mascot Sparty has won the voting for the cover of the Wii version of NCAA Football 09. He joins Arkansas' Darren McFadden and three future announced cover athletes that will represent the different platform versions of the game this year. After looking at the support that Sparty had received from facebook groups, forums, and media coverage I made the prediction that he would jump ahead of Washington State's Butch T. Cougar to take the cover. It ...

With the announcement of the winning mascot for the cover of NCAA Football 09 on the Wii coming Tuesday the 18th I thought it would be interesting to look at one element of the push behind the mascots and how it has proven to be an indicator of success. There has been a great level of passion from supporters who have used forums, facebook groups, and the media to spread the word. The last published top 10 list had Washington State in the lead, with Michigan State, Central Florida, Auburn,...
