As I prepare to depart tomorrow for the EA Football Community Event I thought I would leave a few details as to what can be expected each day. Wednesday: Travel day. Considering the cross country flight and time change it'll eat up practically my entire day. I'll check in when I'm settled and update the site with anything that may have been missed during that time. Thursday: NCAA Football 09 and NFL Head Coach 09 are featured. For myself I'm expecting to sit with NCAA for about three hou...

Five videos making up an entire game of NCAA Football 09 have been posted by Vetzballin. Some quick impressions can also be found at the link. West Virginia takes on Penn State in a game that goes into OT. This is easily the best representation of the 09 to date as it is played realistically and on All-American difficulty. Continue on to view the videos. (more…)...

A while back I took down some notes on uniform errors that had been seen in the screenshots and videos for Madden 09. One of them was the Cowboys' helmet star which was far too large. Producer Ian Cummings has released a screen demonstrating that this has been fixed which can be compared to a previous Felix Jones screenshot. In my interview with Peter Moore I brought up the issue of uniform inaccuracies and he stated that it would be a topic they would address. Since then we've learned that...

Also mention is made of the coming online dynasty that features many major media sites. It'll be interesting given that some poorly rated teams have been cho...

Another producer blog for Madden 09 has been posted, this one again from the new animation director Simon Sherr. There are two parts to the blog which goes over the running game in great detail. Part one can be found here while part two is here. Our number one goal was to make the running game realistic while giving you absolute control. A common complaint in Madden NFL 08 was in the lack of gathering or planting animations needed to simulate a real NFL player, so we definitely wanted to b...

  • Madden 09 rewind feature deserves consideration

The most prevalent feedback regarding sports games (and specifically Madden) these days may be that they have become too complicated and difficult to the point where they are intimidating for many. For veterans of these games that may be tough to understand, but even after playing Madden for 20 years I can say that applies to me to a certain extent. I've stated before how I've never bothered with the majority of pre-snap defensive options for example. So making the game more accessible is a go...

IGN has posted up their hands-on report for Madden 09 and also added some new screenshots. Overall it recaps most of what is already known about the game without much in the way of first-hand opinion, which is what we'll be able to provide next week out of the community event. You can read the full preview here, while a new gameplay video which includes an instance of the Rewind/Backtrack feature and the first time hearing the new commentators has been added and can be watched here (make sure ...
