With the season over we can look back at the entire campaign rather than the week-to-week and identify who improved and regressed most through the Madden NFL 17 player ratings. Make sure to check out the full lists of players on the rise and those who declined sharply. Matt Ryan saw his rating soar over the course of his MVP season, taking him from 13th in quarterbacks to trailing only Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. Rookies like Dak Prescott, Jordan Howard, Michael Thomas, Tyreek H...

The sixth post-release patch for Madden NFL 17 went out today and it's a substantial one. Not only is it somewhat unusual to get a patch after a NFL season has ended, it's especially so considering gameplay is the focus of the update. Some of the biggest changes include addressing RAC catches, a fix for CPU defenders being offsides in no-huddle situations, improvements to zone coverage in handling C routes, and an increase to the chance of fumbles when diving over the top of players, a fi...

The other bi...

Rather than being about the series of entertaining Madden NFL 17 games in an eSports setting where viewership numbers are slowly on the rise, the big story coming out of the Madden Bowl late last week related to the conduct of the winner on social media. The situation has been problematic for EA Sports which is still trying to find its way in the competitive scene and has now faced a number of growing pains along the way. The circumstances necessitated a response from the company which wa...

It took only three days for the Mutant Football League Kickstarter campaign to reach the goal of raising $60,000 to be put towards completion of online multiplayer. The spiritual successor to the 1993 game Mutant League Football is being developed by the same creator and lead designer and has gone through some substantial changes since an original run at raising funds in 2013 came up short. This time the project was ready to be scrutinized and tap into a neglected segment of sports ...

EA Sports is hoping to build Madden into a popular eSport. In terms of viewership they've been gradually climbing despite some inherent challenges. However they've had their share of growing pains with Madden NFL 17 as the entertaining games haven't proven to be the story. The Madden Classic held in early December had its championship game determined in part by a QB freeze bug that resulted in a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. That specific bug was fixed 10 days later with a ...
