One thing constantly being requested is info regarding the upcoming patch for Madden 10, so here is the latest. Per Ian Cummings on Twitter the second patch is still being worked on. It appears they are attempting to get as much into this patch as possible and as such it has still not been submitted to MS or Sony for certification. Indications are that could happen within the next week or so. That would put the patch on track to release in the first half of November. The patch is expected...

Normally one game wouldn't result in a ratings upgrade but what Miles Austin did will almost certainly get him one. He basically took over the role as #1 receiver with Roy Williams out and turned in a Cowboys record breaking 250 yards with 2 TDs. Austin right now sits at a 70 and could end up matching teammate Patrick Crayton at 77 now that he has taken his starting spot with Crayton possibly dropping down. Cedric Benson became the first RB to go over 100 yards against the Ravens defense in ...

The sixth roster update for Madden 10 was released earlier this morning. It includes the trade of Braylon Edwards to the Jets and the re-introduction of Michael Crabtree to the 49ers after his signing earlier this week. Edwards lost a point and is now an 84 and Crabtree has shifted downwards but not nearly as much as I would've expected. He is now an 82 overall. Other changes of note include a significant boost to Giants WR Steve Smith as he goes from an 81 to an 87. Darrelle Revis has mo...

Two big transactions took place in the NFL today that will have an impact on the season and on Madden 10. Braylon Edwards has been traded from the Browns to the Jets and Michael Crabtree has finally been signed by the 49ers. Edwards, who made the Pro Bowl in 2007, has been slumping ever since. Dropped passes have been his main problem but he has also been dealing with a lack of talent around him especially at QB. He becomes the Jets highest rated WR at an 85 which is one point above Jerri...

We're now through a full quarter of the NFL season and at this point players have had ample opportunity to display whether they are playing at a level worthy of a ratings increase or that they aren't living up to their current ratings and deserve to drop. With the next roster update for Madden 10 coming later this week here again is an opportunity to let your thoughts be known on what players should see adjustments. Certainly Steve Smith of the Giants is at the top of the list of players ...

The fifth roster update for Madden 10 is now available. This also represents the first time that team ratings have been updated. That is not something that has changed over the course of previous seasons. Of note is an overdue boost to Joe Flacco taking him up to an 85. Terrell Owens did see a decrease but it was only one point taking him to a still inflated 90. It appears moves such as Jeff Garcia being let go by the Eagles, the Tyler Thigpen trade to the Dolphins, and the benching of Br...

A lawsuit filed by former NFL player Jim Brown against Electronic Arts over the use of his likeness in past Madden games has been dismissed. Brown had made the claim that having a player similar in make-up to him represented a "false endorsement" even though his name was ever included in the game. The New York Times has a full article on the story here. “The Madden NFL video games are expressive works, akin to an expressive painting that depicts celebrity athletes of past and present in...
  • NCAA Football 10 Patch #3 Released

In an unexpected development EA Sports has released a third patch for NCAA Football 10. It is rare to see more than two patches released for any game because Microsoft and Sony charge a significant sum for each patch after the first two. In the case of NCAA Football 10 putting out a third was a welcome positive gesture considering some of the problems people have had with the game this year. Though for many people it will have been to late to make a difference. This patch addressed the pl...
