    The tournament for the cover of Madden NFL 12 has reached the elite eight. Both Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis squeezed out 51-49 victories over their respective opponents Maurice Jones-Drew and Matt Ryan in the closest matchups of the previous round. The third round finds Aaron Rodgers facing Danny Woodhead in what should be no contest.     After a full month of the polls being open and accepting votes on a daily basis the campaigns for the honor of being the NCAA Football 12 cover athlete come to a close at midnight tonight.     More insight on upcoming results were dropped by ESPN a few days into the week of voting in the second round of the Madden NFL 12 cover tournament. The first update noted that Patrick Willis was beating Hines Ward, Adrian Peterson held the edge on Philip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers was cruising to another easy victory, and Maurice Jones-Drew was locked up in a virtual dead heat with Jamaal Charles.     Today at the Sports Business Journal World Congress of Sports conference the topic of concussions in the NFL was raised. EA Sports president Peter Moore was on hand and delivered the news that Madden NFL 12 is changing the way concussions are handled. Players that experience a concussion in Madden will be out for the entire game rather than them returning automatically or giving the user the option to reinsert them.     ESPN has dropped some info on the current status of some second round matchups for the Madden 12 cover just over a day into the full week of voting. The only one of those mentioned that could really be considered a surprise is Patrick Willis holding a healthy 61/39 lead over Hines Ward.     On to the second round in the Madden NFL 12 cover tournament as most of the favorites have advanced creating some compelling matchups. Vote for the second round here!
