A couple off-screen images of Madden NFL 12 have made their way out on Twitter. One shows off a punt formation and most notably a new kick meter reminiscent of the PS2 days and has been accompanied by some talk of progressive lighting. The second spotlights the cheerleaders (which were also seen in the debut teaser trailer) in a sideline cut scene. (more…)...

Following the colossal failure of NBA Elite last fall EA Sports dismissed the General Manager of their EA Canada studio and repositioned the General Manager of their Tiburon studio (Philip Holt, who is believed to be founding the social gaming company luring Tiburon developers). The restructuring was done to put more focus on individual franchises by creating a GM position for each particular title or sport rather than a single one on the studio level.  (more…)...

Three new potential franchises are in development at EA Sports, though the company has chosen not to reveal what they are just yet. The news was made at a press event being held in San Francisco where the company is showing off some of their upcoming titles including Madden 12, NCAA Football 12, and SSX. One of the three is said to be a football game that is "fundamentally different" than those sim titles. This could very well be the remake of NFL Blitz that was rumored late last year. ...

EA Sports has announced that Madden NFL 12 will release on Tuesday August 30th. That represents a sharp move away from the anticipated second Tuesday in August that has become tradition for the franchise. Last week it was noted that retailers had removed the original August 9th date from product listings signaling that something was going on behind the scenes. The new release means the game will arrive in stores much closer to the start of the regular season, if there is to be one. If the...

ESPN has dropped an update on the current status of voting in the 'Final Four' of the Madden NFL 12 cover tournament. Michael Vick holds a 59-41% lead over Adrian Peterson after one day. Throughout the tournament the early returns have represented the eventual winner every single time. That bodes well for Vick who has won easily every step of the way despite being by far the most divisive personality in the field. Yesterday it was mentioned that Peyton Hillis had jumped way out in front o...

The initial reveal of a new Backbreaker came yesterday with the first screenshot that hinted at a "Tackle Alley" concept rather than a full sequel. That idea seemed well suited to be distributed digitally as a downloadable-only game. Now NaturalMotion has confirmed that Backbreaker: Vengeance is headed to Xbox Live Arcade this summer. There are different potential reasons why Vengeance would be released only on XBLA and not for the PS3 as the announcement made no mention of the game being...

The viability of developing a full sequel to Backbreaker took a devastating hit due to terrible reviews and low sales. Despite that the brand's mobile apps have been immensely popular and well received. Both the original Backbreaker and Backbreaker 2: Vengeance have collected several million in revenues. Based on a new screenshot for an upcoming game released today by developer NaturalMotion it appears they may be bringing the "Tackle Alley" package to the Xbox 360 and PS3. The image show...
