According to CNBC's Darren Rovell a loss in the player likeness lawsuit brought against Electronic Arts, the NCAA, and CLC that is currently making its way through the courts (trial scheduled to begin March 2013) could potentially cost the company $1 billion. That would amount to a full quarter of the company's yearly revenues. Check out the detailed breakdown of the lawsuit and all the latest developments in this recent article. If all athletes are included in the class, and EA loses the...

As yesterday marked the start of the Madden NFL 12 ratings barrage another day brings a few more reveals. Out now are the top linebackers, the New York Jets, and the New England Patriots. Along with the previously listed Bills and Dolphins the AFC East is now complete and two new teams will be unveiled each weekday going forward. There isn't much to go on with the top linebackers in Madden 12 given the reveal has been limited to only those rated 95 or higher so there are no surprises. J...

It took three weeks but EA Sports has finally responded to the issues in NCAA Football 12 by releasing details on the upcoming patch. Expected to be out by the end of August the patch will address the severe problems that have been documented such as the broken custom playbooks, player tendencies flipping in edited rosters, injuries not carrying over week-to-week in Online Dynasty, random freezes, and more. Overall the update's intention seems to be to fix all the problems rather than pro...

EA Sports today began uncovering the player ratings for Madden NFL 12. With release of the game being pushed to the end of August expect the ratings reveals to be dragged out over the coming weeks. Keep in mind that the team breakdowns represent the default rosters which will ship with the game and predate all the offseason movement that began last week. Necessary adjustments to the rosters will come in the form of a release day roster update. The top five QBs are Tom Brady (99), Peyton ...

NCAA 12 released to generally positive reviews - though the consensus via Metacritic is down a significant four points vs NCAA 11 - and I laid out several issues with the game in my review and the closer analysis on features. Despite that EA Sports has yet to address the problems which have become the story since release and left consumers largely out in the cold as they work on patch behind the scenes.  (more…)...

The most prized free agent this year, cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles. Not considered a contender for Asomugha particularly after dealing Kevin Kolb for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie they were able to steal him away from teams like the Jets and Cowboys who were considered the front-runners late in the process. The Eagles were already tops of the transaction 'winners' posted earlier today but this vaults them into a whole new category. Asomugha wi...

Less than three months ago Electronic Arts was dismissed from the high profile lawsuit brought against them as well as the NCAA and Collegiate Licensing Company. The suit alleges improper use of player likeness through various forms of merchandise and media including video games in which the parties in question conspired to avoid paying players for their rights. A new ruling however looks to have brought EA back into the fold as a defendant in the lawsuit which has former players Sam Keller ...
