The follow-up patch for NCAA Football 12 went live last night for the PS3 and today for the Xbox 360 to address an issue introduced in early September. No-huddle has been fixed after the last patch inadvertently resulted in severe limitations of play selection for both the offense and defense. There have been no indications as of yet whether this patch represents finality for NCAA 12's post-release support. (Update) I've now been informed a third patch is in the works but when it will come a...

The post-week four roster update for Madden NFL 12 features over 400 roster, ratings, and equipment adjustments. As anticipated the big move comes with Calvin Johnson obtaining the elite "Clutch" player trait status while also getting a bump up by a single point to 96 overall. No movement at the top as all 99 and 98 rated players remain the same - however Nnamdi Asomugha falls from 97 to 96, Jake Long drops from 97 to 95, and Ray Lewis moves up from 96 to 97. The largest leap goes to Colt...

Just like that a quarter of the NFL season is in the books. Generally this is the point in a season where players and teams can be identified as being on new planes of consideration - guys who have seen their stock has rise or fall are on more than just streaks and instead more likely displaying their new level of output. The big name to watch in the upcoming roster update for Madden NFL 12 is Calvin Johnson. "Megatron" has made the deciding play in the last two comeback wins for the Lion...

The upcoming patch for NCAA Football 12, which last week was confirmed to have reached first party certification with Microsoft and Sony, has been approved and is scheduled to be pushed out on Friday October 7th for both systems. With it comes a fix to the issue with no-huddle that was introduced in the first major patch. Essentially only one set of plays from each formation were available to select from affecting both the offense and their ability to make calls on the fly and limiting the o...

The post-week three roster update for Madden NFL 12 is scheduled to arrive on Friday for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. The update includes nearly 400 roster and ratings adjustments and numerous equipment changes. Shockingly Tom Brady has lost the coveted 99 rating as he drops a point following his 4 INT game against Buffalo. I don't think anyone was anticipating that being a possibility. Nnamdi Asomugha and Antonio Gates drop a point as well down to 97. The biggest gainer of the update is Gi...
  • Who Will Be the Next to Lose Their Clutch Designation in Madden NFL 12?

Going into the season Madden NFL 12 presented a group of 36 players who had the "clutch" trait which provides a ratings boost in pressure situations. After just one week that group lost a member as Eli Manning had it removed. He had been considered on the edge to begin with and a poor first performance did him in. There are a number of others within the group that could be close to losing their designation just as Calvin Johnson appears likely to earn the honor possibly as early as with this...

Generally it takes about a quarter of the season to look at performances as more than just anomalies and go beyond trends - and now through three games those new perceptions of players and teams are starting to be solidified. The Bills, Lions, and Raiders are being taken seriously while those like the Vikings and Dolphins are worse off than expected. Calvin Johnson has a good shot at getting the "clutch" trait in the update. He has made a number of big plays over the course of his career ...

EA Sports announced earlier today that next patch for NCAA Football 12, which will address at least the no-huddle issue introduced in the last patch, has cleared internal certification and is now in the hands of Microsoft and Sony. In general the expectation at this point in the process would be for approval and going live in the next two weeks. It is unclear if what, if any, other changes are being introduced in the aforementioned patch. Unfortunately the time it has taken to develop and...
