When a yearly sports title concentrates more on enhancing gameplay and the existing features rather than introducing big new ones the typical expectation is that it will at the very least be polished and avoid some of the growing pains that befall early-stage innovation. NCAA Football 12 made subtle improvements across the board but despite being theoretically rich in content faltered tragically due to broken and incomplete features and poor communication.  (more…)...

There has been both a great deal of turnover and an expansion of the dev team for the Madden NFL franchise at Tiburon this year. Several top names at the studio left in the spring and their positions were filled by the likes of Cam Weber as the GM of football products, Roy Harvey taking over as the new executive producer (following Phil Frazier's departure), and Mike Young being elevated to creative director (previously held by Ian Cummings). Today Kolbe Launchbaugh made official via T...

The post-week 15 roster update for Madden NFL 12 is expected to arrive tomorrow for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Heading into the holidays and with the regular season nearing completion the update scales back somewhat on the sheer number of changes made and instead continues to make smaller adjustments based on recent and long-term trends. Of note is Drew Brees re-joining the 99 overall rated club, Jason Pierre-Paul continuing to rise and now has reached 93, and both Roddy White and Calvin Joh...

With some of the roster inclusions being outdated and the limited number of slots there will be some players that are...

Week 15 of the NFL season will be remembered largely for the significant upsets that took place. The undefeated Packers went down in a huge surprise while the winless Colts were able to avoid ending the season in that embarrassing fashion. Some of the players with standout weeks included the combo of Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson, Kyle Orton, Reggie Bush, Donald Brown, Antwan Barnes, Brandon Browner, Jason Babin, John Abraham, Aldon Smith, and Jason Pierre-Paul. As always leave your...

ESPN continues to roll out the rosters for the upcoming EA Sports' reboot of NFL Blitz set for release on January 4th. The NFC West and South follow the NFC North and East which were detailed late last week. Each team carries seven offensive (QB, RB, 2WR/TE, 3OL) and seven defensive players (3DL, LB, 3DB) along with a kicker and punter. Again it seems to be that some of the roster inclusions are outdated and the limited number of slots means a few players that are probably worthy of being...

Madden NFL 12 is coming upon its 16th week since releasing at the end of August. Though word of mouth has been relatively strong - leading to a better hold in sales - one area of disappointment has been post-release support in the way of patches and 'tuners'. That is no better demonstrated than by comparing the patches that came for Madden NFL 11 vs 12 and the lack of communication regarding any current plans for future support of the title.  (more…)...
