While the team rosters and player ratings for NFL Blitz are still a ways off from being revealed the most recent feature blog laid out the structure of the ratings. It's a simple system, which probably won't offer a whole lot of differentiation between players, but is probably sufficient for an arcade-style game of this nature. The individual players also tie into the "squad" ratings which factor into determining a team's most effective play style. Offense Speed – Affects the way ...

Recently EA Sports broke down the 'Blitz Battles' and co-op 'Blitz Teams' online modes for NFL Blitz. Now comes details on 'Elite League' which appears to have been inspired by the 'Ultimate Team' mode found in sim titles such as Madden and FIFA. Thankfully in this case the card packs aren't being sold for real money but instead they are purchased using the 'Blitz Bucks' that are earned by playing online games. That should provide more value to Blitz and better competitive balance in the mod...

EA Sports has posted a blog and accompanying video going over the "Blitz Battles" online mode for the upcoming reboot of NFL Blitz. Featuring head-to-head matches of either 1v1 or 2v2 (on the same console or co-op) the mode includes local, regional, and national leaderboards termed "Battle Boards". One unique element here taking it beyond just simple rankings are that points are assigned based on a number of statistical categories rather than just winning or losing. There are also "tiers"...

Today EA Sports posted a new blog for NFL Blitz going over the game's Gauntlet single-player mode that features 12 teams comprised of fantasy characters (the different ones seen in the screenshot above). After putting together a team to begin, the mode consists of defeating some NFL teams on the way to the "boss" battle against one of the unique ones with the games including new power-ups distributed in a manner that sounds reminiscent of Madden NFL Arcade. Beating the "boss" teams will unlo...

  • First Trailer for NFL Blitz

EA Sports has released the first trailer for the recently announced reboot of NFL Blitz. Though much of the discussion since its announcement has centered around the NFL not allowing late hits - this footage of the game shows some big hits but shies away from violence otherwise (its E10+ rating explains why). In that sense Blitz starts to seem maybe too reminiscent of EA's most recent attempt at the arcade-style game with 2009's digital download Madden NFL Arcade. The features and level ...

NFL Blitz is slated to arrive in early January for 1200 MS points/$15 on XBLA and PSN and EA Sports has released the features list for the game. The classic 7-on-7 gameplay will be met by expansive online modes, the single-player "Gauntlet" mode, team customization through 'card packs', on-field power-ups, and commentary from Tim Kitzrow (of NBA Jam fame). One real unfortunate piece of news though is that there will be no late hits as the NFL wouldn't allow them. Check out a series of scr...
