After two weeks, All-Pro Football 2K8 has sold 76,737 copies on the Xbox 360 and 23,618 on the PS3. The drop from week one to two was 59% and it isn't expected to have legs with Madden releasing soon. At a Take Two conference call on Tuesday, they commented on the sales of the game.  Via Kotaku: "We're not terribly pleased and not disappointed. We're watching closely and are going to act pro-actively when Madden comes out. We know we're in competition with them" ...
  • Another take on the Vick All-Pro Football 2K8 trailer

A few days ago I wrote about how surprised I was to not only see another questionable video produced by GameTrailers, but also that an NFL player was being used to promote an unlicensed game. You can read up on it here.  Michael Vick has no relation to APF as he is not in the game and the attempt to capatalize on the current controversy is shameful regardless. Seeing Vick in a trailer for APF could potentially confuse consumers. Going further than that there is the...
  • New demos hit the 360 Marketplace

Two new demos became available overnight on the Xbox 360 Marketplace. All-Pro Football 2K8: The demo presents a single five minute quarter between the Firebirds and the Cobras. Rosters are pre-set for those teams so there is no choosing of legends. Unfortunately this demo comes about 2 weeks too late. Better late than never though. Nascar 08: The demo features an 8 lap night race at Daytona with the choice of drivers being Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, or JJ Yeley. The game releases and is i...
  • NCAA Football 08 vs All-Pro Football 2K8

Last week brought the release of two anticipated football titles in NCAA Football 08 and All-Pro Football 2K8. I figured it would be helpful to go through the different aspects of the games and give my thoughts on which has the advantage in each area. Anyone who is trying to decide between the two can view this as somewhat of a guide. Both of these games are generally regarded as companion titles to Madden 08 so for many it may be difficult to justify purchasing both. Continue on to read my ful...
  • All-Pro Football 2K8 impressions

I’ve never been a big fan of reviews. Basically I don’t believe in the use of an arbitrary number to describe a game. I’ve always felt that impressions, and laying out important details, were much more important. I don’t feel that my opinion should be taken as a reason to purchase or pass on a particular game. However if my thoughts help someone make a decision one way or the other, it will have been for the right reasons. Media sites will do reviews and the use the numb...
  • The media begins to pick up on the OJ story
    by

As I predicted in my article regarding the Gametrailers OJ Simpson trailer, there was the potential that the media would pick up on and run with it, making it a more mainstream topic. How it could become more than the message board discussion it has been thus far. That now has happened. In an article that reads eerily similar in some ways to what I wrote, Priya Ganapati at TheStreet.com has detailed the situation of OJ Simpson within All-Pro Football 2K8 and the exploitation of his pa...
  • Gametrailers puts out another distasteful trailer
    by
    Posted July 20th, 2007 at 8:13 am 36 Comments »
Only two days after releasing a controversial trailer making light of the accused murders committed by OJ Simpson, now Gametrailers has come out with a new trailer for All-Pro Football 2K8 capitalizing on the another sensitive issue. Apparently having decided to do a series of distasteful trailers, now they are taking advantage of the Michael Vick indictment. What makes it even more bizarre is the use of an NFL likeness in a trailer for an unlicensed game. GT created a version of Michael V...
  • The OJ Simpson topic surfaces yet again

In what seems like ages ago, 2K Sports signing OJ Simpson to be in All-Pro Football 2K8 was the hot topic. Despite that it never really reached the point of anything more than a discussion over whether it was right or wrong. Anthony Chau of 2K has stated that OJ Simpson being in the game generated the most questions from the media. However it never got to the point where the mainstream picked up on it. Small mentions of it were made such as in this preview that called it the "only potentially...
