Word of a patch for Tecmo Bowl Throwback has now been squashed with Tecmo coming out to state that they will now not be providing one. The patch was planned in attempt to solve an issue with recording wins and losses when one side quits out of an online game. Kotaku has a full story on the news. The game released last week for the 360 but still has no stated release date for the PS3. As mentioned in my impressions of TBT, one of the drawbacks to a downloadable title is that they generally g...
  • Possible Demo Dates for Backbreaker

The demo for Backbreaker definitely carries more significance than those of established sports franchises. Much like UFC last year it could be a huge success and propel the game towards increased awareness and sales. However it could also be damaging if the demo does not do a good job of representing the final product or does represent it but simply turns out to be a dud. According to a posting on the Backbreaker forum that includes an email from a representative of 505 Games, the demo for ...

I went ahead and recorded a couple quick videos from Tecmo Bowl Throwback. I have mixed feelings on the game right now, which I'll lay out in an upcoming impressions posting, but these videos are a good opportunity to at least see the game in action. The first video is a scoring drive where I switched between "3D" and "2D" views to display the difference, while the final two videos come out of an online game. Continue on to watch and leave your thoughts in the comments! (more…)...

Tecmo Bowl Throwback arrived for download on XBLA early this morning and carries a price of 800 MS points ($10). A release date for the PS3 still has not been announced. Tecmo Bowl Throwback is a remake of Tecmo Super Bowl and contains the same rosters from 1993. The team and player names will be changed, due to the lack of NFL license, but the rosters will be identical in terms of player makeup. If you are interested in looking them over they can be found here. The game features the abil...

Quick Hit Football, the free browser based football management sim, has announced a new representative that will be featured in the game for the 2010 year. New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss has signed on to appear as one of the five 'Starters' which are comprised of current NFL players. Moss, who holds the NFL single season touchdown reception record, is the perfect player to lead Quick Hit’s team of Starters given his speed and agility – two core elements of Q...

(Update) There is now some question whether the PS3 will get it next week also. Should more info become available I will add that to the story. Yesterday I posted about the confusion over the release date for Backbreaker, which after having settled on an official date of May 25th appeared to be in limbo. Today it was confirmed on the Backbreaker forum that the game has been delayed by a week and is now (tentatively) set to come out on June 1st. But we aren't going to rush this. We'll release it when we are ready to. You'll have seen already that the release date has been bumped back a week. We're happy with the extra time that 505 ...
