As expected EA Sports held a prominent role at the Microsoft event to reveal the new Xbox One. Andrew Wilson appeared to discuss the next generation confirming Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, NBA Live 14, and UFC for the Xbox One. The company also announced the "EA Sports Ignite" engine which will provide true player motion and living worlds. EA will also be discussing a "new broad, strategic partnership with Microsoft" in the near future - probably more on that at E3. FIFA 14 will be getting exc...

The transition from a standard Franchise mode to Connected Careers with Madden NFL 13 was widely enjoyed but also loudly opposed. Omitting features that segments of consumers were passionate about - many were patched in later but the damage had been done - and not being able to easily communicate the evolution of Franchise concepts made it a contentious situation for EA Sports to handle. Now with Madden NFL 25 the mode has been renamed Connected Franchise and a number of additions and improv...

Notable in the announcement of the Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition was nothing being included to celebrate the history of the franchise. For what is intended to mark a milestone anniversary that it contains nothing about the past or from it is certainly perplexing. Instead something that would have made perfect sense packed in is being sold separately.  (more…)...

Following the first news and trailers on "Run Free" for Madden NFL 25 generating a wave of negativity and then a curious last-second delay of Connected Franchise news it made sense for EA Sports to fill the gap with something that would attempt to ease the concerns of those not encouraged by what has been put on display thus far. The latest video - which seems to have been pulled together expressly for this purpose as they missed a second straight self-imposed deadline by releasing it tw...
  • In Unexpected Development EA Sports Now Exhibiting Marketing Struggles
    by
    Posted May 14th, 2013 at 9:30 pm 26 Comments »
EA Sports has always been recognized for their marketing might whether a game was worthy of hype or not. Traditionally they've been at the forefront of trends and have taken full advantage to get the brand in the position they are today even with at-times-floundering franchises. Something has changed though in recent months out of the Tiburon studio in particular. The marketing efforts have been inconsistent and sloppy - a stark contrast from the usual disciplined nature in which they hav...

A tweet from Madden NFL creative director Michael Young to Adam Schefter has made it evident that the ESPN reporter has an as-yet-to-be-explained role in Madden NFL 25. Though he was a part of the in-game Twitter feed heading in to do work for the game suggests he'll factor in more significantly than that. @adamschefter Great working with you today. Enjoy a well earned early trip home. #beastmode #madden25— Michael Young (@MYsportsPhotog) May 8, 2013 The hinting at involvement ...
