Electronic Arts held the annual EA Play event earlier today and did so remotely with a pre-taped production. As expected upcoming sports games premiered first looks accompanied by additional details including release news. It is notable however that there was just a single trailer shown during the presentation and only featured two of the four upcoming titles. Madden NFL 21 and FIFA 21 had the premiere of a next-gen trailer with a glimpse at the games for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. ...

EA Sports today debuted the first look at Madden NFL 21 with the release of a trailer and some feature details. Hopefully something more substantial will come out of EA Play on Thursday because this is a shallow and arcadey introduction to Madden NFL 21. Additionally the publisher confirmed owners of the PS4 version will be upgraded for free when moving onto PlayStation 5 matching the offer for those on Xbox One to Series X. Exclusivity for the NFL video game license on consoles is on the table yet again with a new agreement in place to continue on with EA Sports. The league's owners will vote on the proposal next week where it is all but certain to pass carrying the exclusive license for sim games through Madden NFL 26. This was always an inevitability despite some who may have viewed the recent 2K news as a sign that they would be slipping in to create a competing product or take over the license after Madd...

The NFL and 2K Sports have announced their first partnership since 2004 when their last one came to an end with NFL 2K5. Football is coming back to 2K but it won't be a return of that NFL 2K franchise. Instead they will be "non-simulation games" across multiple platforms with the first title releasing sometime in 2021. EA Sports continues to retain exclusive rights to produce simulation NFL games with Madden. [Update] 2K has league licensing for non-sim games but do not have a deal at lea...

  • Latest Madden NFL 20 patch alters Run Commit mechanic and more

The eighth post-release update of significance for Madden NFL 20 released today. The big change in this update affects the Run Commit mechanic. Unfortunately the well-intentioned changes may be disruptive in a negative way with run commits causing instant pressure on QBs leading to inaccurate throws making for just the latest blunder in what has easily been the worst post-release period for any Madden in the past decade.
