Cannon Arm (Brett Favre - Packers) Hands (Marvin Harrison - Colts) Spectacular Catch (Chris Chambers - Dolphins) Power Back (Larry Johnson - Chiefs) Press Coverage (Ty Law - Chiefs) Pass Blocker (Walter Jones - Seahawks) Finesse Move Defensive Lineman (Dwight Freeney - Colts) Route Running (Torry Hol...

Those behind developing NBA Live 08, such as Lead Producer Brian Ullrich, will have blogs detailing different aspects of the game and process behind creating it hosted on IGN throughout the summer. Madden recently started the wave of producer blogs, being featured on the EA Sports website and now as well on IGN. The first one for NBA Live is up now. Nothing really new comes out of that particular entry that hasn't been covered elsewhere such as in my first look write-up. I think I've had enou...

EA is introducing "weapons" in Madden 08 that individual players can have. Only the best players can achieve the status of having earned a weapon, and it is possible that a player can hold even more than just one. The Patriots have the most weapon players with 14. This is a great way to differentiate superstar players, or those who are more skilled in particular areas, from others without just reflecting that it ratings points (which don't do enough on their own). No longer will Michae...

I've written my thoughts about the ESPN show Madden Nation, and now those who make it are actually seeking the opinions of everyone out there. Send feedback via email with the title "Madden Nation Feedback" to: footballcommunity@ea.com What do you like or hate about it, and what do you want to see changed with the show? Will it ultimately do anything to affect change to the show? Probably not. But at the very least they should know that the sentiment is out there that it does a disse...

IGN has posted up their Five things to know about Madden 08 article, and in it several new things were revealed and detailed. You can also check out the first gameplay trailer on their video page. Taking a look at the features: In Madden, the term is Smart Quarterback and it's 1 of 24 superstar abilities in the game. Here's how it works: There is an icon under Manning as he lines up (in fact, anyone who has a special weapon ability has an icon that looks similar to NBA Live's Superstar icon...

Sony has released a trailer for NBA 08 on the Playstation 3. The SCEA franchise will follow up on NBA 07 which came out with the system launch. IGN also recently had an interview with the game's producer. As a first party developer, you would expect them to be pushing the capabilities of the system. Yet SCEA doesn't seem to do that. The visuals on NBA 07, and the early visuals for 08, are sub-par. Even the much more highly regarded MLB 07: The Show has what most would consider "last-gen" grap...
  • Madden 08 Power Rankings (27-22)

Over the course of the next couple weeks I'll be posting up my power rankings for Madden 08 based on the current NFL team rosters. Below are 27-22, and you can find 32-28 here. 27- Cleveland Browns The Browns had a good off-season and great draft. Adding Jamal Lewis behind an improved offensive line makes them a more effective offense. But relying on a rookie QB and rookie LT ratings wise is a problem (at least at the start of the year). 26- Miami Dolphins Daunte Culpepper would st...
