New hands-on and videos of Madden 08 for the Wii
Thus far a decent amount of information has been released regarding the Wii version of Madden 08. Now IGN has posted up the first true hands-on impressions of the game along with two videos.
In general, Wii motion controls are easier to use, so big hits on defense and head-down plowing are simpler and are much quicker in response time. As part of the full Mii incorporation, each player will now use a profile at all times, and the on-screen move indicators will now show the Mii head as well...
NBA Live 08: Hot Spots
IGN has detailed the new "Hot Spots" for NBA Live 08. This is the final in the series of four new features being unveiled for the game.
Hot Spots are a visual feature. On offense, you can hold down the Left Bumper or L1 to see a color-coded guide to a ball handlers strengths and weaknesses on the court. Depending on the player, you'll see patches of purple for cold zones, red for hot spots and yellow for moderate areas. These are the spots the player has shown to have the most success. Tha...
Madden Community Day Update
Last week I wrote about the upcoming Madden Community Day event which was slated for next week. Unfortunately today I was informed that Madden will not be available and it is being turned into an NCAA Football centric event that includes attending the ESPYs. Putting the news about no Madden aside, this is a nice gesture of appreciation to the NCAA Football community and will essentially represent a "kickoff" celebration for the game being less than seven days before its release. The n...

Chris Paul is the cover athlete for NBA 2K8
The cover athlete for 2K Sports NBA 2K8 will be New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul. Paul won the 2006 Rookie of the Year award and in his sophomore season averaged 17.3 PPG and 8.9 APG. I like the choice here. He is a fresh face who in the past has talked about his desire to be on a cover of a basketball game. After two years of Shaq this is a welcome change. Along with NBA Live 08's Gilbert Arenas, the two cover athletes are highly marketable guys who seem excited about the opportu...
NBA Live 08: Quick-Strike Ball Handling
Earlier IGN went over Go-To Moves and Own the Paint for NBA Live 08. Now they have put the spotlight on Quick-Strike Ball Handling which you can read in its entirety here. All that remains in the four part series is the Hot Spots, which we'll see detailed on Thursday. Harvested from NBA Street, the Quick-Strike system allows players to easily chain dribble moves in a smooth and natural-looking way. Rather than relying on complex movements, Quick-Strike is contextual and is focused on letti...
NBA Live 08 sizzle trailer
IGN has posted up a sizzle trailer for NBA Live 08. If there is one thing you can always rely on, it's that EA will put out trailers that really make the game seem exciting. Despite the issues that I laid out in my community day report, after watching this I get the itch to get back playing the game some more. It really is unprecedented the amount of access, info, and media out on a game that is still four months away from release.
