***UPDATE: EA has confirmed to myself and several others that the PS3 version of Madden will be running at 30fps. This was done in response to the rumor that it would be at 60fps which turns out to have been a miscommunication. It will be running at 30fps on the PS3.***  Back on June 29th it was revealed that while the 360 versions of all the football games (NCAA Football 08, All-Pro Football 2K8, Madden 08) would be running at 60fps, the PS3 versions would only be running at 30fps. ...
  • Achievements for Madden 08 revealed

The list of Xbox 360 achievements for Madden 08 has made its way out. It isn't a real exciting list. Although I'm not sure what there could be for Madden to get me excited about its achievements. There are no online related ones which is disappointing. Actually there are no mode specific achievements, they all appear to be gameplay related. At least this year there aren't a ton of points you know you'll never get. Those Superstar mode ones last year were ridiculous. I know that ...
  • Madden 08 weapon breakdown and team ratings

SportsGamer recently published a full list of all of the weapons held by each player as well as the overall team ratings. The accuracy of the list comes into question as a few confirmed weapons are not listed here as well as previous statements made not completely matching up. However it could simply be that those were altered since then. I'll note some of those things in my recap of the info. Also keep in mind this was not from the final version of the game so there could potentially ...

I added the exclamation point sarcastically. EA will be offering the opportunity to purchase your very own Jostens Madden ring through the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. It can be yours for only $149 or $495! The Ring of a Champion series will serve as a visual tracking system for a player’s success within the game. As Madden NFL 08 gamers accomplish various achievements, they will progress through five different levels. Once a player has reached level three, the ring can be...

In a new blog posting, NBA Live 08 Producer Brian Ullrich mentions that there will be a demo of the game released in September. Although he doesn't go into specifics it will likely be available for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3.  It doesn't come as a surprise to hear this news, although it is nice to have solid confirmation that the demo can be expected. EA has been giving an extraordinary amount of access to the game with many first-hand impressions, videos, screenshots, and deta...
  • NBA 2K8 not being shown at E3
    by
    Posted July 11th, 2007 at 12:06 am 10 Comments »
Unfortunately it seems that 2K Sports has pulled NBA 2K8 from its E3 lineup. This was one of the more anticipated sports titles as no one has seen or heard from it yet. Meanwhile NBA Live 08 has pushed out an unheralded amount of advertising, early media and hands-on impressions and it is being shown at the event. We know that Chris Paul will be the cover athlete as first reported here on 7/4, however 2K has yet to even come out and take the first step of officially announcing that news. It...
  • First look at the Wii version of NBA Live 08

Posted July 10th, 2007 at 1:45 am No Comments »
IGN has posted a preview of NBA Live 08 for the Wii. What they saw was early in development, but they seem encouraged by the direction it is going. Personally I don't really see basketball as a game that will work all that well with the Wii controls. The shooting matches up, but so much of the game relies on quick reaction time and precision. It's hard to imagine all the other elements in a basketball game fitting in seamlessly to offer a satisfying 5 on 5 experience. Of course I would ...

Gamespot has posted up several new screens from NBA Live 08. Click here for the full set. Could this McGrady one be the best sports game screenshot ever released? I think it might be. Click the image above to view it at full size. They've also posted up their hands-on impressions. EA has added a few more draft related screenshots. A second of Kevin Durant and one featuring Al Horford. The Horford one displays the Atlanta Hawks new jerseys. Head over to the official NBA L...
