EA is set to release another roster update on Thursday September 6th for Madden 08 to coincide with the start of the NFL season. Rosters should reflect the moves made through the final cuts from this past weekend. This update is confirmed to include the removal of Michael Vick from the rosters. Update: As of the early AM hours on September 7th the new rosters are available for the 360 and PS3! ...
  • More NBA Live 08 online league details

Earlier today I wrote an article with one of the topics being the leagues in NBA Live 08. While some of the details on them were known, others still hadn't been addressed. Since then I was able to gather this additional information from EA. Each member plays up to X number of games against each other member of the league, where X is an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9 or 11) chosen at league creation. Games are schedule-free: just see who's online at the same time as you are, and pl...
  • NBA Live 08 Hot Spots and online leagues discussed

A new preview of NBA Live 08 has been posted by 1up. While it is very brief it does contain some impressions on the Hot Spots feature and reiterates the thoughts I had on it. Hot Spots for each shooter are accessible with the press of a bumper, but the problem is that there's no subtlety -- since they're glaringly obvious, your defenders also know where your hot spots are. We dig NBA 2K8's treatment of hot spots better (a tiny meter shows you when you go to one on the court). Goin...
  • First NBA 2K8 trailer
    by
    Posted September 1st, 2007 at 2:45 am 22 Comments »
The first official trailer for NBA 2K8 is out and you can watch it below. Outside of some apparent sliding it looked pretty good. You wouldn't expect anything less from these type of trailers though since they're manufactured for the hype. All the features and improvements that were talked about previously will have to be seen and evaluated from a gameplay perspective. That is probably still a week or two away....
  • NBA Live 08 demo coming “very soon”
    by
    Posted August 31st, 2007 at 12:57 pm 112 Comments »
Update 9/5: The demo has officially passed MS certification and can now literally be expected to be released very soon.  I have received word from EA that the demo for NBA Live 08 is expected to be out "very soon" and to check out the official website for more upon its release. The details of the demo are currently unknown as well as whether it will only arrive for the Xbox 360 or if it will also be available on the PS3. ...
  • First true NBA 2K8 hands-on preview

IGN has posted a detailed look at along with impressions of NBA 2K8's new features and improvements. There are also a handful of new screenshots. I've pulled the main points and added my thoughts on each.  It begins with the rebuilt AI. The new AI is deadly against those who have zero hoops knowledge. If your idea of a basketball game is constantly driving to the hole, no matter who's handling the rock and who's standing in their way, then you're in for a rud...
  • NBA Live 08 will offer online leagues
    by
    Posted August 30th, 2007 at 4:55 pm 20 Comments »
NHL 08 won't be the only upcoming EA Sports title to include online leagues. For the first time it will be introduced into the NBA Live series as well. They will be available on the Xbox 360 and PS3. It appears for this first attempt at leagues the system will be somewhat limited. There can be 2-32 teams, 1-11 games in a season, quarter length of 2-12 minutes, and owners can have the same teams within a league (which means there will probably be no trading of players). One good aspect is th...
  • NBA Live 08 team and top player ratings

Gametap has posted up the ratings for the top 20 players at each position as well as the team overall ratings for NBA Live 08. The highest rated players in the game are Kobe Bryant and Lebron James who both come in with 96. Kevin Durant is the highest rated rookie at 78 and Greg Oden follows with a 75. Overall the numbers for both the teams and the individuals seem low but as long as they are all relative and balanced that is what matters. Teams 1. Mavericks: 87 2. Suns: 87 3. Rockets: 84 4. Sp...
