The patches for Madden 09 and NFL Head Coach 09 have been in certification testing with Microsoft and Sony for some time now so here is the latest on where we are at with those. (Updated) Madden 09 will be receiving its second patch at 5am ET on Tuesday morning. It should be arriving for both the 360 and PS3. Originally it was believed that the patch would come out in the early AM hours of Saturday but it missed that cutoff and is now set for the AM hours of Tuesday for release by Microso...

The fourth roster update for Madden 09 is currently set to be out later today. EA is attempting to release an update every week now and that consistency is welcome. This update includes Shawne Merriman going to the IR, all the receiver changes for the Seahawks (except for Nate Burleson to the IR?), the Broncos receive the benefit of several ratings increases, and Adrian Peterson moves up to a 98. Continue on for the full list of changes. (more…)...

NBA 2K9 had some time on Gamespot's "On the Spot" show today. While there was some early video from E3 this represents the first real look at a near finished build of the game. Amuse yourself as awkward questions such as how many teams the game has and if it has freestyle moves are asked. There were some really nice animations and I like the game speed being faster (some will like that others might not) but on the downside there was some pretty severe sliding. I do like the way the highli...

The interview goes into great detail on what the company does and how that will enhance the experience for those who play Live. You can check out the interview here. Also an update on the NBA Live 09 demo for the PS3 as Son...
  • NBA 2K9 Living Rosters and 2K Insider

The highly touted announcement for NBA 2K9 turns out in part to be Living Rosters which has been known for a few weeks now. The difference though is that it will not be predicated on changes to NBA.com as previously believed, but instead will be done manually whenever it is warranted. In essence it appears as though 2K has assigned the task of roster updates to an individual who will remain active throughout the season in providing them. As with the competition, you can expect to see roster...
  • Kevin Garnett Reveals NBA 2K9 Secret?

In an interview with Jon Robinson of ESPN, NBA 2K9 cover athlete Kevin Garnett may have revealed a new aspect to the game's online play. I'm not sure if it can actually be termed a mode but it could be something interesting for people to follow. Whether this is the big news 2K Sports has been alluding to is uncertain. You can check out the full interview here. Why all the mystery? Seems the commercial Garnett is shooting is for a secret new mode in NBA 2K9, the same game that also features ...

While we are now three weeks out from release of NBA 2K9 and have not yet seen the game in action (outside of the early E3 footage) it is only a matter of time until the media finally arrives. That appears to be inching closer as Jon Robinson of ESPN has posted up a full preview of the game. There is also the big online feature still to be officially unveiled and one would think that would be happening within the next week or so. Last year, gamers complained about 2K8 being a tad slower tha...

Official NPD sales numbers for August have been released and as expected it was Madden that dominated the month. A few days ago EA Sports president Peter Moore talked about the 6% sales increase and now we have the detailed breakdown. Dollar wise thanks to a shift towards the more expensive 360/PS3 versions as well as the Collector's Edition it was a bigger pickup than just the total sales would represent. 360: 1,000,000 (+103,400) PS3: 643,000 (+306,800) Wii: 115,800 (+20,000) PS2: 42...
