Along with the website launching yesterday came the official announcement press release for Madden 10. Additional information on the game was included. Here are some of the statements taking from that release and initial reaction to them. With more control over the outcome of the play than ever before, players can drag defenders towards the first down marker, fight for a fumble at the bottom of the pile, and avoid the rush by stepping up into the pocket. A better representation of a pocket...

The latest Inside EA Blog posting goes over in detail the customization options in Madden 10. It actually goes as far as to include the actual game design document for the game settings screen. Within that some new details about the game can be found. Check out the entire posting here. Having this kind of interaction with the community spelled it out EXTREMELY clearly - we really needed to focus in this area and make sure that we were allowing numerous customization options, especially the ...
  • 2009 Madden Mock Draft 1-3

Something I enjoyed doing last year was the Madden Mock Draft. This is not a mock centered on who I believe the teams will end up selecting. I will be doing one of those closer to the draft. Instead it is about what player each team would draft in order to improve themselves the most in Madden 10. I base decisions primarily on projected ratings, team needs, importance of position, opportunity for impact, and potential ratings increases throughout the season. Every few days I'll be posting...

On Monday the first screenshot for Madden 10 was revealed by Peter Moore. Today Art Director Michael Young goes though the numerous improvements or additions that are on display in that screen. The refs, chain gang, and hand towels were the most obvious but there are others such as depth of field, Super Bowl patches and fields, secondary color equipment, and better name layout on jerseys.  You can read up on everything on the Inside EA Blog here. In today's blog, I'm going to go to reall...

Today the first screen from Madden 10 will be released by Peter Moore on his blog. The most interesting aspect of this is how the screen is said to include a look at some additions (as many as six) that have been made to the game. Earlier today on Twitter Ian Cummings strongly hinted that the ever-elusive hand towels would be one of those things. Other possibilities could include hand warmers and the return of refs and the chain gang. The blog posting containing the screen is expected to be ...

The place-holder cover for Madden 10 was recently posted by Gamestop. Usually this leads to some speculation as to whether the silhouette image is the actual cover or if it's something generic that will be replaced after the official announcement. In the past there have been times it has turned out to be the cover image but more often it wasn't. The ones for NCAA Football 10 are actually the covers from 09 just switched around. So I took a look at the one for Madden 10. For whatever reaso...
