EA Sports has announced that Madden NFL 12 will release on Tuesday August 30th. That represents a sharp move away from the anticipated second Tuesday in August that has become tradition for the franchise. Last week it was noted that retailers had removed the original August 9th date from product listings signaling that something was going on behind the scenes. The new release means the game will arrive in stores much closer to the start of the regular season, if there is to be one. If the...

ESPN has dropped an update on the current status of voting in the 'Final Four' of the Madden NFL 12 cover tournament. Michael Vick holds a 59-41% lead over Adrian Peterson after one day. Throughout the tournament the early returns have represented the eventual winner every single time. That bodes well for Vick who has won easily every step of the way despite being by far the most divisive personality in the field. Yesterday it was mentioned that Peyton Hillis had jumped way out in front o...

From the very start Rodgers has seemed destined to take on Vick in the finals. Peterson could provide ...

Multiple sources have informed me there are some major changes taking place at EA Tiburon specifically relating to the Madden NFL franchise. Several high level members of the development team are apparently on their way out and may be joining a new studio that is being founded by a former Tiburon executive. When made public some of the names exiting the studio will be immediately recognizable to those who closely follow the series. On Friday The Orlando Business Journal reported on the ne...

The Line Drive is a weekly collection of news, links, and updates that didn’t necessarily warrant their own postings. •As mentioned last night on Twitter and Facebook look for a significant story regarding the development of Madden later this afternoon. •The NCAA Football 12 devs are looking for info regarding teams that utilize cannons. •THQ would like feedback via survey regarding the future of Smackdown vs Raw DLC. •For some cruel reason Microsoft has m...

The latest version of Madden generally hits stores on the second Tuesday of every August. There was the special exception of a Friday release for Madden 10 but otherwise it represents the standard schedule of release. Could something be up though with the release of Madden NFL 12? Retailers have removed the August 9th release date from product listings. (more…)...
  • Madden 12 Elite Eight Voting Update

    Posted April 8th, 2011 at 1:30 pm 59 Comments »
ESPN has delivered the early voting returns in the quarterfinals of the tournament to capture the cover of Madden NFL 12. Considering that updates for both of the previous rounds after a day or two have foretold the eventual winners it would seem to be an indicator of the basic trends coming in and have little to no influence on the voting patterns going forward. No surprises appear to be in store as Adrian Peterson, Michael Vick, and Aaron Rodgers are well on their way to advancing. The ...

Many of you will have received an email today regarding the class action suit that has been filed against EA Sports alleging price gouging as it relates to football games. Anyone who purchased an EA Sports football game after January 1st 2005 would be included in the class.
