    EA Sports has released a pair of videos that go over the improvements to gameplay and presentation that have so far been announced for Madden NFL 12 using the company's "Virtual Playbook" technology for demonstration purposes.     There is no sports franchise that faces near the same scrutiny as Madden and that makes the response to the release of the first significant info and trailers for Madden NFL 12 that much more startling.     Gus Johnson will remain the play-by-play announcer for Madden NFL 12 but his departure from CBS, which was announced today, raises questions going forward. Reports are that he is done with college basketball and presumably MMA events and his other options are getting more limited. It is being rumored he is now in talks with Fox Sports to cover college football.     EA Sports has released a few new looks at Madden 12. Those include an updated screenshot of DeMarcus Ware displaying improvements to the Cowboys jersey, the main menu, and an off-screen shot that reveals a new interface for GameFlow.  (more…)...

    Retailers have started to post their pre-order bonuses for Madden 12 offering significant credits and exclusive extra teams. Last year Madden 11 was able to be had for what amounted to $40 at release and that is the case yet again with Madden 12. •Amazon is offering a $20 credit and exclusive "All-Rookie" (featuring players such as Cam Newton and Patrick Peterson) and "All-Sophomore" (Sam Bradford, Ndamukong Suh) teams.     Given that EA Sports didn't release screenshots of incoming rookies from Madden 12 during the NFL Draft, I've gone through and captured images of the players on their respective teams in Madden 11. Many of these players have already received the numbers they will be wearing and most are reflected here, while a few of the screens were taken with numbers guessed or carried over from college.  (more…)...

    New screenshots for Madden NFL 12 have been added to the gallery while others have been replaced with higher resolution versions. Action shots, authentic team entrances, and aerial views of stadiums make up the majority. There are already a total of 70 images available for the game.     This last week brought about the initial reveal of features for Madden NFL 12 accented by the trailers for both gameplay and presentation. The focus on authenticity and gameplay related enhancements has elicited a more positive reaction than has become the norm for Madden. Certainly it contrasts to last year as the "simpler, quicker, deeper" mantra which was met with a level of disdain.
