The fourth season of the highly acclaimed and immensely popular Showtime series Dexter began last night and it didn't waste any time introducing the main arc for the season. It will center around the "Trinity Killer", a man who has killed in sets of threes moving to a new city each time over the last 30 years. As is stated in the show, that makes him the most successful serial killer ever to have never been caught. "Trinity" is played by John Lithgow who certainly had the creepiness facto...

The series premiere of FlashForward started off by winning the 8pm hour in both viewers and the 18-49 demo against solid competition in Survivor and Bones. This is definitely encouraging for ABC which will be replaying the show tonight and will likely be a heavily DVR'd show. Another good sign is that viewers increased in the second half hour when many new shows tend to see a drop instead. Despite being on at 8pm, which is traditionally a weaker time slot for the 18-49 crowd, it came in seco...

The most anticipated new show of the fall season is ABC's FlashForward which premieres tonight at 8pm. An event causes everyone in the world to blackout for two minutes and 17 seconds and during that time they see a glimpse of their future six months ahead. The characters will battle with the emotions that come from what they see in the flash. Many will not like what they witness, some will actually hope that their future comes true, while others will have difficulty understanding what their...

Of this bunch of new shows premiering tonight the one that interests me is Modern Family which has received positive early buzz and reviews. Mercy, which has gotten mixed reviews, could be the biggest hit to come out of the night however. It will be interesting to see the ratings results come tomorrow. Mercy (8pm NBC) The day-to-day trials of Mercy Hospital are presented from the perspective of its nurses, particularly the military-hardened Veronica Callahan, whose tour in Iraq makes her...

The premieres of House and Dancing with the Stars dominated the evening of Monday September 21st while Heroes disappointed. Fox came away with the win for the night, ABC placed second and NBC finished in a distant fourth. A significant development for House is seen in the 16% increase over last season's premiere. Fox did a great job of really making this premiere an "event" and it really felt a lot like a standalone movie that anyone would enjoy even those who may not have followed the se...

The Forgotten (10pm ABC) Christian Slater is back with a new show after the cancellation of My Own Worst Enemy. The Forgotten is another investigative procdedural show and has the look and feel of Cold Case. In this one a group of amateurs attempt to figure out the identities of deceased victims in order to figure out who killed them. NCIS: Los Angeles (9pm CBS) After the successful expansion of the CSI brand CBS now looks to do the same with NCIS. The unorthodox pairing of LL Cool J an...

Monday September 20th brings the return of two big network shows in House and Heroes. Both kick off their respective seasons with two hour events that begin at 8pm. This represents the sixth season of House and the fourth for Heroes. House is one of the strongest shows for Fox and certainly remains entertaining every week. The finale of season five drew 12.7 million viewers. However some storyline decisions that were made last season baffled and upset fans. Being committed to a mental ins...
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 7 Premiere

Its been nearly two years since the end of the sixth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. It returns with the premiere of the seventh season on Sunday, September 20th at 9PM on HBO. It is rare for TV shows to make me laugh out loud even if they're funny, but Curb has consistently done that throughout its run. I often times find myself agreeing with Larry David and totally understanding his initial opinion and position. He just can't ever let things go and it always gets him into difficult situ...
