Second Battlestar Galactica Spin-off Series Coming from SyFy
Good news for fans of Battlestar Galactica as a second spin-off series is in the works. The first, Caprica, is currently in the second half of its first season on SyFy but low ratings have put it at risk of being canceled. Caprica is a character drama and focuses on the time on the planet as the Cylons are being created (acting as a prequel to BSG).
This new series, which will be known as Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, will go back more to the original series' combat roots. Just ...
First Week of Guests on Conan
The guests for the debut week of Conan have been announced. There is a poll on who the very first guest should be though it is unclear if there is any seriousness to that. From the list of options it would appear to be a joke but it was reiterated today that voting continues. The show is set to premiere on TBS on Monday November 8th.
Monday 11/8 – Seth Rogen. Musical guest Jack White
Tuesday 11/9 – Tom Hanks, Jack McBrayer. Musical guest Soundgarden
Wednesday 11/10 – ...
NBC Picks Up Additional Episodes of Their Freshman Series
Today NBC announced they have given back nine orders to The Event, Outsourced, and Law & Order: Los Angeles. Chase and Undercovers are rumored to be getting similar pick-ups as well.
None of NBC's new shows this season are performing particularly well. Chase and Undercovers are at risk of cancellation so this news comes as somewhat of a surprise. The other three are doing well enough by the network's standards but they were unable to produce the breakout hit that they were looking for.

Fox Orders Animated Napoleon Dynamite
Back in May it was reported that an animated version of the film Napoleon Dynamite was being developed. Today we learned that Fox has picked up the series for an initial six episode run.
The comedy will follow the "misadventures of an awkward high school teenager and his quirky friends as they struggle to navigate life in rural Idaho." The voice talent features much of the original cast from the movie including Jon Heder (Napoleon), Efran Ramirez (Pedro), and John Gries (Uncle Rico). N...
Raising Hope Gets Full Season Order
My favorite new comedy of the fall season is the Fox series Raising Hope. It actually has quickly become my favorite comedy on TV behind just Modern Family. The series centers on a young guy that gets stuck with a baby and his somewhat dysfunctional family that helps him out. It sounds generic on the surface but it avoids that completely and has surprised me in many ways. The show just has a sentimental and honest nature to it, somehow remaining just grounded enough despite some outrageous eve...
Spartacus Will Recast Lead Role
Spartacus is the first breakout hit original series for home network Starz, so the news that the title actor Andy Whitfield would have to go back into treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma hit hard on two fronts. Not only was it sad news as it had been believed he was in remission after initial treatment that delayed production on season two, but the network was put into a tough position on how to proceed with the show. They could either end it or recast it, and obviously neither of those options...
ABC Cancels My Generation
The second casualty of the fall TV season is the ABC drama My Generation. After only two episodes the network has removed it from the schedule but has not announced what will replace it at 8pm on Thursday nights. The show took on a documentary style in the following of a group of friends as they flashed back and forth between present day and 10 years prior when they were seniors in high school.
Earlier this week Fox canceled their new series Lone Star after just two episodes as well. My Gen...
Hitch to Become TV Series
The 2005 hit film Hitch is being turned into a television series, with multiple networks in the bidding hoping to acquire it. The movie, which starred Will Smith, Eva Mendes, and Kevin James went on to make $180 million domestically and doubled that number when counting in foreign grosses. Its $50 million opening weekend still holds the record for a romantic comedy.
I can see Hitch working as a series pretty well given the concept. The question is whether a lead can be cast in the 'Alex Hit...
