After premiering last month to respectable ratings the Steven Spielberg produced TNT series Falling Skies has earned a renewal. The post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama which has aired four episodes to date will receive a second season next summer. It has averaged 6.4 million viewers when combining live and DVR/on-demand showings and is performing well overseas. Word of mouth on the show has been mixed with it turning some viewers off through forced melodramatic scenes. TNT's base audience tends...

Fans of Sony's Uncharted video game series were thrilled to learn in late May that director David O. Russell was leaving his position writing and directing the film adaptation. His vision for Uncharted: Drakes Fortune didn't sound remotely anything like the game and instead seemed to be ripping off themes from National Treasure. Even the casting decisions (Mark Wahlberg as Nathan Drake, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci) were widely criticized. When Russell departed the project everything about it r...

Three men plot to have their superiors eliminated in the comedy Horrible Bosses. Played with effortless nature by Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day, the guys are out of their element as they conspire to find a solution to their misery. Unfortunately the film never really seems to nail down the driving forces behind the characters and its accompanying tone despite the laughs. (more…)...

The original Transformers is one of my favorite movies and I feel no shame in admitting that. The nostalgia factor of seeing the adaptation of a show I loved growing up captured me completely and the visuals and action scenes were stunning to witness. Expectation levels were different then, when it exceeded them, compared to the sequel which was primed for a let down. Revenge of the Fallen lost everything that made the first so great as even the action sequences were too convoluted to follow...
