Deadline is reporting Transformers: Dark of the Moon will return to IMAX theaters starting Friday, August 26th.  Don't wait too long to see it though as it will only be there for two weeks, leaving theaters on Thursday, September 8th.  After that you will have to wait until the DVD/Blu-ray release. Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third film in the blockbuster Transformers franchise, is returning to 246 IMAX domestic locations for an extended two-week run from Friday, Aug. 26...

After weeks of filming, production has completed for The Dark Knight Rises in Pittsburgh. Several images and videos leaked from the set, more so than what we have seen in the past. While some might view this as something that can ruin the movie,  Christohper Nolan still thanked the city by taking out an ad in the local paper. Now filming will move on to Los Angeles and New York. I'm sure we can expect to see new footage and images leaked from those shoots as well. I'm still not s...
  • DVD/Blu-ray Releases for Week of August 23rd

Though lacking a high profile release this week there are a number of intriguing options coming to DVD and Blu-ray. The Beaver was well received but the controversy around Mel Gibson led to the film never getting a wide theatrical release. The highest rated cable movie of the year (Phineas & Ferb) arrives on DVD and The Greatest Movie Ever Sold is another interesting documentary from Morgan Spurlock - this time taking on the movie industry and product placement. There are also two classi...
  • Trailer for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Though not remembered fondly the original Ghost Rider from 2007 grossed $115 million domestically and totaled $228 million worldwide. It was still a questionable decision to go forward on a sequel but by snagging directing duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank) it was made clear that the project would have a harder edge and certain intensity - which was notably lacking from the first. Going into Comic-Con I had no expectations for this movie but was very impressed by the presentat...
  • Trailer for Underworld: Awakening

The first trailer for the fourth entry in the Underworld franchise arrived today. Having seen some footage at Comic-Con I didn't come away overly impressed. Some of the scenes were visually interesting and the return of Kate Beckinsale brings necessary credibility but that all may not be enough to regenerate any intrigue that once existed in the franchise. Underworld: Awakening is slated to release on January 20th 2012. UNDERWORLD 4 brings a stunning new dimension to the epic battl...
  • Breaking Bad Renewed for Final Run

As one of the best shows on television, and getting its highest ratings ever, it seemed a sure thing that Breaking Bad would get at least another season in which the story could be wrapped up. There was some level on contention however as AMC first sought out only a six or eight episode order and showrunner Vince Gilligan was seeking a full season or possibly even two. The potential of moving the series to a different network was even raised at one point. AMC however has now locked up the...

After last week was seemingly all about comedies this week brings some more serious DVD/Blu-ray releases. The best reviewed are Jane Eyre and The Conspirator which both played only on a limited number of screens when in theaters. Cult favorite The Big Lebowski also gets a limited edition Blu-ray that includes a digital copy and 28 page book packaging with extras.  (more…)...
