Netflix Streaming Adds CW Shows
The Netflix run on new content for its streaming service continues with CW network programming. Beginning on October 15th shows such as The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and Nikita will be made available for instant viewing. Come January 2012 others including Supernatural and 90210 will be added. The deal will run for at least four years - with each new season being added the following fall....

Marvel has released the first official trailer for The Avengers. Though there was a scene that followed the credits in Captain America this represents the first official footage released beyond that. The film stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Samuel L. Qwikster Already Dead – Netflix No Longer Plans to Split into Two Companies
Last month Netflix announced that it's DVD-by-mail rental service would be spinning off into its own company to be known as Qwikster, while its streaming service would remain under the Netflix name. They were to be operated completely separately even having their own websites and subscriptions would be independent from each other. Early On-Demand Release Experiment Continues with Tower Heist
Earlier this summer began an experiment to see how well movies would sell on-demand before they arrived on DVD/Blu-ray - even potentially while still in theaters a two months after release - for $30 through DirectTV. Returns were not particularly encouraging with studios determining that the wait from theatrical release as well as the price were prohibitive to its success.
