Last month the first trailer for Kick-Ass hit theaters. The reaction to it from those unfamiliar with the comic book wasn't overwhelming since it didn't really get across the R-rated and graphic nature that makes it unique. Buzz on the film is off the charts however. Just last week it was screened at BNAT along with other movies including Shutter Island and Avatar. Those two got hugely positive response but it was Kick-Ass named the big winner and discussion on Twitter about it has been spre...

As expected The Princess and the Frog captured the top spot at the box office this weekend. It was able to make $25 million which is right about in line with expectations. The Disney film appealed primarily to females and didn't have the benefit of being in 3D. It knocked The Blind Side out of #1 but that movie continues to drop at an astonishingly slow pace down only 22% from last weekend for $15 million more. It has now made $150 million since release. The other new entry was Invictus w...

Two new movies open this weekend and at least one of them should topple The Blind Side for the top spot. The animated Disney film The Princess and the Frog targets the younger set while Invictus appeals to an older crowd and hopes to draw support for a potential Best Picture nomination. In what comes across as a classic Disney animated offering The Princess and the Frog will slant more towards females. That is not necessarily a bad thing but it does limit its potential. It does not releas...

What may be the most anticipated movie of the year Avatar opens next Friday. Certainly it has experienced an eventful buildup which is all now coming to a head. The talk of the project revolutionizing film visuals, expectations being a James Cameron film, fantastic trailer and heavy marketing campaign has led to some inevitable backlash to the hype. However now the movie has been screened for select critics and while there is an embargo until Monday some comments are being made. The excit...
