The 19th season of Survivor concludes tomorrow night in the two hour finale of Survivor: Samoa followed by the reunion show. This has been a highly entertaining season based almost solely on one man. Russell has run the game and created some of the most memorable moments in the history of Survivor. While Russell has played hardest and deserves to win anything can happen. If he does reach the end he will have to sell himself to a jury which has a Galu majority. With four Foa Foa members an...

Avatar appears to be on the way to a weekend take close to $80 million. Along with the early midnight showings the movie was able to pull in $27 million on Friday. Increased prices in ticket sales due to 3D and IMAX screenings helped boost the take. Long term prospects are very good. This is one of the rare times where the opening weekend results won't be nearly as interesting as following how it does in the weeks ahead. The natural comparisons to Titanic are there but Avatar will not end u...

One has to ask when reviewing a movie what factors need to be considered. Is it just the quality of the film in terms of the story and acting? Is it the emotion it invokes? Is it the pure entertainment factor? Really all that varies on the particular movie at hand. Avatar though is completely unique and really doesn't fit into any typical category. No film has ever been as ambitious yet it totally pulls it off. James Cameron waited years for the technology to arrive that could deliver his v...

Fox may be taking action to help bolster the popular but ratings challenged Fringe. In what would be an interesting tactic a new episode of Fringe may air on January 11th at 9pm. House was just moved up to return on that date at 8pm. This is being seen by most as an attempt to squash the momentum of Chuck which settles into that 8pm on Monday slot after having its third season premiere the night before. Fringe was scheduled to be off until Thursday April 1st. According to the report it wo...

The long awaited arrival of Avatar is finally here as it opens today in a record number of 3D and IMAX screens. Playing the role of counter-programming, or depending on perspective being led out to slaughter, is the comedy Did You Hear about the Morgans? With approximately 2000 3D screens, 178 IMAX screens, and other locations showing the regular 2D print Avatar is primed for a huge opening. It won't have the same massive screen count of other blockbusters but that could end up adding to ...

The first trailer for Shrek Forever After arrived today. The movie is the fourth in the massive franchise and while this is supposedly the last Shrek there are spin-offs planned. This time the story has Shrek feeling over-domesticated so he cuts a deal with Rumpelstiltskin. Of course that ends up going awry leaving him to see Far Far Away as it would be if he had never existed.  Shrek Forever After is slated to release on May 21st 2010. ...
