  • Alice in Wonderland Easily Wins 3rd Weekend

    As expected it was another box office victory for Alice in Wonderland which cruised to $34 million to take its cumulative gross to $265 million. That is an incredible take through three weeks, and shows the strength of the 3D draw especially. Alice though will take its first hit next weekend when How to Train Your Dragon arrives, which will steal away many of its 3D theaters and family base of moviegoers. Exceeding industry expectations was Diary of a Wimpy Kid which made over $21 million. ...

    'Take 1' is a new weekly posting that will recap the previous weeks entertainment news. 'Captain America' is picked, a 'Predators' trailer, and one of the highest grossing films of all time is coming back to theaters in 3D, are all amongst the big pieces of news this week.   • Captain America Offered to Chris Evans

    Reports today indicate that Marvel has offered the part of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, to Chris Evans. Neither side has confirmed the news but multiple sources have revealed that a deal has been offered though Evans would first have to find a way out of an obligation to film a different movie this summer.     Yahoo! has posted an exclusive clip from Warner Bros' Clash Of The Titans. In the clip 'Calibos' attacks 'Perseus', played by Sam Worthington. From the footage I've seen so far, I would imagine this movie is going to look pretty good in 3D. If you've missed any of the other of the previous 'Titans' clips you can find them here.   • New Superman and Batman Films Will Be Released In 3D

    Warner Brothers announced at ShoWest yesterday that all of the studio's tentpole movies from now on will be released in 3D. That includes all superhero films or any big budget special effects driven films. WB will be releasing five 3D movies this year and are expected to have nine next year. It was made clear that the 3D initiative would include those in the line of DC Comics, which means the Superman reboot and next Batman film will be released in 3D.     Alice in Wonderland held off four new entries last week and this time around it should be able to easily win again. Three new movies hit theaters and none are real threats for the top spot. The NCAA Tournament could also eat into potential grosses this weekend. (more…)...
  • Trailer for Predators

    Last week a sneak peak video for Predators made its way out and now the official trailer for the movie has been unveiled. Starring Adrian Brody, Topher Grace, and Laurence Fishburne and directed by Nimrod Antal (Armored, Vacancy) the story finds a group of elite warriors kidnapped and dropped on an alien planet as part of a game where they are being hunted.   • Jamie Foxx Joins Kane and Lynch

    News has surfaced that Jamie Foxx is set to star alongside Bruce Willis in the adaptation of the video game series Kane and Lynch. The film is being directed by first timer Simon Crane, who has primarily worked on stunts in the past though he has a good deal of experience as an assistant director as well. Willis and Fox will play a pair of inmates who escape prison and team up to retrieve a stolen fortune. The movie is set to release sometime in 2011....
