Review: Iron Man 2
The most anticipated movie of the summer is nearly here as Iron Man 2 hits theaters on Friday. As with any follow-up to a hugely successful film the expectations are off the charts. Can Iron Man 2 live up to them and avoid the potential for disappointment? The simple answer is yes, it absolutely has achieved at least that much.

Trailer for Secret JJ Abrams Project Debuting With Iron Man 2
When the trailer for Cloverfield arrived from out of nowhere while attached to Transformers it created a ton of buzz that ultimately carried all the way to a big opening for a movie which had no big name stars. That trailer didn't even include the eventual name for the movie, instead just throwing up the release date at the end. It was extremely effective as rarely can anything coming from Hollywood surprise audiences in the way that did these days.
Cloverfield was created and produced by J...
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3D Sequel Coming
Though A Nightmare on Elm Street was universally panned it was able to pull in $32 million its first weekend. That made it the biggest opening for a horror film ever in the April-May months. That was enough to already prompt Warner Bros and New Line to give the go ahead on a sequel. It should be of little surprise by now that of course the sequel will be in 3D.
The $32 million is certainly very good, but the film's internal mutliplier suggests that it is going to drop like a rock over the c...
New on DVD: Week of May 3
This is one of the least impressive weeks for releases that I can remember. Nothing is very appealing, unless you're a fan of 'Batman'. All the 'Batman' films pre Batman Begins will be released on Blu-ray. The only two I'd consider buying though are Batman and Batman Returns. The others I'd like to just forget they were ever made, let alone watch them in hi-def. Here is the full release schedule broken up by standard DVD and Blu-ray:

Deadline.com is reporting that Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is in talks with 20 Century Fox to direct X-Men: First Class. It had been rumored last week that Vaughn was in negotiations with the studio, but coincidentally those rumors were quickly dismissed by Deadline themselves. Now it seems things have changed again:
Things are back on with Matthew Vaughn and 20th Century Fox on X-Men: First Class. A deal is being negotiated right now. That's where I told you this was headed last week,...

Anchorman 2 and Zoolander 2 May Be Dead
After a period where they both looked likely to happen, sequels for two films that built cult followings on DVD now appear to have their fates in serious question. Both Anchorman 2 and Zoolander 2 are facing trouble due to budgetary concerns.
Late last week Anchorman director Adam McKay tweeted an update on the state of the sequel that he and Will Ferrell had been hoping to achieve. Paramount passed on it despite attempts to reduce the budget for the film. Paramount owns the rights to Ancho...
