    Major Hollywood studios and Time Warner Cable are in discussions to create what is for now being called "home theater on-demand". This initiative would deliver movies to homes as early as 30 days after they release in theaters. The Wall Street Journal has the story on how the normal four month wait period could be trimmed to just one month and be offered through on-demand. This would not change when movies would be released on DVD/Blu-ray as those would stick with the typical four month gap. ...

    Get Him to the Greek is helmed by Nicholas Stoller as a follow-up to his directorial debut with Forgetting Sarah Marshall. A sequel of sorts it focuses on the character of Aldous Snow as played by the eccentric Russell Brand. Unfortunately the movie takes on a completely different tone than FSM becoming more of an in-your-face comedy and in doing so bypasses the delivery of a genuine story and enjoyable characters.     With Iron Man 2 having unofficially kicked-off the summer movie season two weeks ago the next blockbuster arrives in theaters  with the final chapter to the Shrek series (and in 3D). The other new release is the SNL skit adaptation MacGruber.     Dreamworks in conjunction with Paramount has released the first full theatrical trailer for the animated film Megamind. Featuring the voices of Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, and Jonah Hill the movie is a satirical take on the superhero genre with a battle between a supervillain and his arch-nemesis.     After two weeks of being the most purchased DVD, Avatar tumbled to fourth. The three movies ahead of it were all in their first week of release.     Disney has announced that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will be released in 3D.     While there has been talk recently about the ever-growing cast list for Transformers 3 it looks like one of the main players from the franchise has been cut out. Deadline is reporting that the option to bring back Megan Fox will be passed over and she will not appear in the film.
