  • Review: Knight and Day

I was initially drawn to the Knight and Day based largely on how it appeared to offer a vibe similar to that of one of my all-time favorites Grosse Pointe Blank. That subtle/dark humor that has a main character acting so calm and confident through even the most ridiculous of situations while maintaining that all of it is pretty much normal is at the heart of both films. It works just as well here as it did back then though in a much more action-packed scenario. In Knight and Day the main ch...

A brand new international trailer for Predators has made its way out and it provides easily the best look at the film yet. Starring Adrian Brody, Topher Grace, and Laurence Fishburne, Predators is directed by Nimrod Antal (Armored, Vacancy) and produced by Robert Rodriguez. The story finds a group of elite warriors kidnapped and dropped on an alien planet as part of a game where they are being hunted. Predators is slated to release on July 9th. ...

Since the announcement last month that a Planet of the Apes prequel was in the works, we haven't heard much else. We do know that James Franco will play the lead role, and now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Frieda Pinto and John Lithgow have joined the cast. Rupert Wyatt will direct the feature, which focuses on a scientist (Franco) who has been working on a cure for Alzheimer's that is being tested on apes. The test subject named Caesar evolves rapidly, and the scientist takes h...

Sony has released the first trailer for the big screen adaptation of the TV series The Green Hornet. Seth Rogen stars as Britt Reid (Green Hornet) along with Jay Chau as Kato and Cameron Diaz as Leonore Case. The movie has some terrible buzz going for it which was largely the reason it got bumped out of the holiday season and will carry with it completely unnecessary 3D. This trailer though makes it look like it could be a fun ride. The Green Hornet is slated to release on January 14th 2011. ...
  • Paramount No Longer Delaying Movies for Rental from Redbox

I've written on numerous occasions about the DVD rental delay period that Hollywood planned to institute as a means to try and increase DVD sales. From all the way back when it was just an idea I never understood the logic that people would buy a DVD they wouldn't have otherwise just to avoid waiting a month to rent it. Back in early January is when Netflix and Redbox began with delays that were essentially being forced on them in order to survive. It now appears that at least one studio ha...

Although there are only a handful of Blu-ray movies releasing this week, there are two in particular that are worth seeing. The thriller Green Zone, which stars Matt Damon, will surely be something 'Bourne' fans want to see. Those interested in comedy should check out She's Out of My League. Both films received 'Fresh Ratings' on Rottentomatoes.com. Also worth noting is the release of the 6th season of Entourage on DVD. Here is the full release schedule broken up by standard DVD and Blu-ray:...
