    It should come as no surprise that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was the top selling and rented DVD last week. The summer blockbuster was the the most hyped DVD release since X-Men Origins: Wolverine. You'll notice the original Transformers sold the third most. Not bad for a movie that made it's DVD debut 106 weeks ago.     The results are in and the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It has opened on Wednesday with 7.4 million. That number includes 2.2 million that it made on Tuesday night screenings. That puts This Is It on track to make in the range of 32-36 million over the opening five days. Industry expectations were all over the board.     Fox has released the first full trailer for Avatar. Reaction to the previous teaser was mixed however that isn't all that surprising considering it isn't being seen in 3D. The film is intended to be viewed in 3D theaters and the result is supposedly spectacular. Needless to say this new trailer will garner much stronger support.     Invictus tells the true story of South African President Nelson Mandela and how he joined forces with the captain of the rugby team to help unite the country during a run at the World Cup in 1995. Starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon the movie is directed by Clint Eastwood. It has been set up in prime position for Academy Award consideration which shows the studio has confidence in how it will be received. Invictus will begin in limited release on December 11th. ...

    Universal Studios Home Entertainment announced that Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball will release on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download January 19, 2010. Working on the sequel to the 2007 film are Executive producer Joe Carnahan (Narc), the writer/director of Smokin' Aces, and director P.J. Pesce (Lost Boys: The Tribe).     After five seasons Battlestar Galactica completed its run earlier this year. Because an end date was known ahead of time everything was wrapped up really well and it had a very thought-provoking conclusion. That hasn't stopped the Battlestar universe from continuing on however. The SyFy series Caprica will premiere in January and that show debuted with a movie a few months ago.     The first trailer for Green Zone is now out. Starring Matt Damon the movie tells the story of a US Army officer on the hunt for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.     The documentary about the final months and days of Michael Jackson's life, featuring footage of preparation for the concert tour he was planning, arrives in theaters tomorrow. In some places the movie begins showing at 9pm tonight. This Is It will only be in theaters for a limited two week run before moving on to DVD and Blu-ray in December.
