This week isn't a bad week for releases compared to the last few weeks. The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 was a pretty decent movie. The storyline was a bit far fetched at times, but overall it was an enjoyable movie. Also hitting stores is Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut. In September, I posted the details of what would be included in the special edition. It is definitely something to consider for the die-hard Watchmen fanatic. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra will also release this week. I'm not expecting ...

It has been over 20 years since Who Framed Roger Rabbit was released. In an interview with MTV, A Christmas Carol writer/director Robert Zemeckis revealed a sequel was in the works. The original Who Framed Roger Rabbit screenwriters, Jeffrey Price and Peter Seaman, are currently working on a script. Not much else was revealed and Zemeckis seemed pretty tight lipped about letting anything slip. The Oscar award winning film was ahead of it’s time. It was really the first full lengt...

The five day estimates are in for This Is It and the disappointing performance at the box office continues. After opening with only the 7.4 million from the opening day which included Tuesday night showings, the estimate for the five day period is 32.4 million. The movie collected a decent but unspectacular 21.3 million over the weekend. Worldwide the film has proven more successful pulling in 101 million since release. That is not anywhere near the 250 million predicted by AEG but still ...

All of the Marvel films that lead up to The Avengers in 2012 are being followed closely while in development. Not only do they have to fit into the same world and mesh for The Avengers to work but every casting decision is crucial as they'll be involved with that picture as well. Up next is Iron Man 2 but others on the way include Thor which is scheduled to release on May 20th, 2011 and Captain America which will arrive on July 22nd, 2011. In their early stages some details are starting to m...

Responding to continued drops in DVD sales, movie studios are apparently considering a multi-week window where DVD and Blu-ray copies would only be available for purchase. After that time was up the movies would then be available for rental. Are people passing on buying DVDs because they can just rent them? Or is it because the movies aren't worth buying or the prices are too high? The studios seem to think that the drop in sales can be attributed to outlets like Netflix and Redbox. Pe...
