This weekend felt as though it represented the unofficial kick-off for the holiday movie season. As expected A Christmas Carol will come in first place as it made 9 million on Friday. Featuring Jim Carrey voicing multiple characters and boosted by 3D theaters it now looks to be headed towards about 32 million for the weekend. That is below industry expectations which were pegged to be around 40 million and even below my tempered prediction of 36. Ultimately it may be a little early for a Chr...

I generally tend to enjoy the understated dry comedies and that is what I expected from The Men Who Stare At Goats. While it tries to be just that the story trudges along with reliance on flashbacks for much of the progression. Many of the situations seem inserted for the purpose of comic relief yet unfortunately they never really deliver on it. (more…)...

This weekend represents the unofficial start to the holiday movie season with the release of four new films that all have their own unique appeal. The first holiday themed movie arrives with A Christmas Carol while the other three look to attract comedy, suspense, or horror crowds. None of the four however are receiving overwhelmingly good reviews. Yet another retelling of the famous Charles Dickens novel arrives with A Christmas Carol which features the voice of Jim Carrey in the headlin...

Just the other day the first trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was released and to mostly positive response. Now in an interview with Latino Review producer Jerry Bruckheimer extensively discusses the film. Maybe the most noteworthy thing out of the interview has to do with the test screening scores which are being made to sound very encouraging. What we found when we tested the movie a few weeks ago, and it tested extraordinarily high which surprised me because I always think...

Yahoo! has posted a trailer for Angelina Jolie's new action/thriller Salt. The trailer is filled with a ton of action scenes and really gives us a good idea what direction the film is headed. After watching, I got the feeling she was the female version of Jason Bourne. Salt will hit theaters July 23, 2010. Plot Summary: Before becoming a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt swore an oath to duty, honor, and country. She will prove loyal to these when a defector accuses her of being a Russian sleeper sp...

MTV sat down with Scream 4 writer Kevin Williamson to discuss the latest sequel to the 1996 horror hit. Although the movie is considered the fourth film in the Scream series, this will the first film of a new trilogy Williamson will work on. "The fourth one is an ensemble," Williamson said of his "Scream 4" script, which is being concurrently written with a fifth script as well. "It'll take place right now, 10 years later, and it's going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woo...

Earlier this year Hugh Jackman breathed life back into the Academy Awards with his performance as host. After recently stating he would not return this year the speculation started right up as to who should take over. One thing was for sure though and that was the Academy could not just go with a rehash. Though he has hosted twice before, Steve Martin will be joined by Alec Baldwin for the 2010 Oscars. Martin has always been well liked and his opening performances have gotten big laughs. ...
