Knowing they have what very well could be a huge hit on their hands Lionsgate continues to churn out media for Kick-Ass. This is a more well rounded trailer than the first but still proves it will be difficult to get across just how violent and graphic the movie actually is. Hopefully they'll be able to release a Red Band trailer in the near future. The buzz surrounding Kick-Ass is off the charts so it will be interesting to see the build up and how the marketing is handled as its April 16th r...

While Avatar will once again dominate the box office and finish at the top for the fourth straight weekend there are a couple new entries which appeal to unique crowds. Daybreakers provides a darker option, Leap Year is a traditional romantic comedy, and Youth in Revolt tries to provide the hipper comedy. Vampires face a crisis as the human blood supply dries up in Daybreakers. Reviews started out very encouraging with unanimous positives early on but as more have come in those initial enth...

In it's first week of release Paranormal Activity was the top selling DVD last week. The horror/suspense film did very well in theaters, and scored an 82% 'fresh rating' on Rottentomatoes.com. By becoming the top selling DVD, Paranormal Activity dethroned The Hangover from the top slot, which it held for two weeks. Although the comedy slipped to second in sales, it did manage to snag the top slot for most rented DVD. Below is the list of DVD sales and rentals for the week ending January 3, ...

Variety is reporting that Zombieland writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, will pen the X-Men spinoff, Deadpool. Last month it had been rumored the studio was in talks with the duo for the script, but nothing was official until today. Reese and Wernick, who wrote "Zombieland," will stay true to the mythology of "Deadpool" given that Reynolds is a huge fan and protector of the property. The tone of "Deadpool," which features an antihero as opposed to the more traditional heroic comicboo...

Not long ago I wrote about a proposal that was being considered where DVDs would release "for sale only" for a period of time before they would become available for rental. The first step in this becoming the norm arrived today and is expected to represent just the start of things to come. Netflix has announced an agreement with Warner Brothers that will have them holding back their releases for 28 days before making them available to subscribers. In exchange WB will be providing increased ...

While Quantum of Solace was a big success financially it was seen as somewhat of a disappointment by moviegoers. There was definitely less enthusiasm than had come out of Casino Royale, which was likely more responsible for Quantum's success than how good the movie was. That basically sealed the fate of director Marc Forster and led to speculation as to who would take over the franchise. The name that has now come up is somewhat surprising. Sam Mendes, who is very highly regarded but has ne...
