The rise to stardom has been quick for Sam Worthington over the last six months, with prominent roles in tentpole films such as Terminator Salvation, the upcoming Clash of the Titans, and of course the biggest movie in history Avatar. He also is lined up to star as Dracula in Dracula: Year Zero. With such a busy schedule already, and an Avatar sequel sometime down the line, it makes it difficult to imagine him taking on another potential franchise. Despite that news has made it out that Warner...

There isn't much releasing this week compared to weeks past, but there are some movies that are definitely worth checking out. One film that will surely sell well is Disney's The Princess and the Frog. You can bet we'll see this this at the top of the DVD sales when the results release next week. It did well in reviews and scored an '85% Fresh Rating' on Rottentomatoes.com . If you want action, Ninja Assassin will be hitting stores as well. Don't ask me what I was thinking, but I actually wa...

Everything being released these days is a re-boot or in 3D. Now, we can add older movies being re-released in 3D thanks to James Cameron. According to the USA Today, Cameron will convert one of the highest grossing movies of all-time, Titanic, to 3D. When asked about Titanic, Cameron said "We're targeting spring of 2012 for the release (of a 3D version of Titanic), which is the 100 year anniversary of the sailing of the ship." This is quite different from what he said just last month when...

Having passed the self-imposed deadline of March 1st for deciding who will get the role of Steve Rogers aka Captain America, the rumors continue to swirl with yet another new name added to the list of those seen as final candidates. Ryan Phillippe has emerged for the first time as reported by HitFix. He is definitely on the older side of things at 35 and that could make it difficult to see him in this role. He joins Mike Vogel (Cloverfield), Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), Garret Hedlund (Tro...
  • Review: Green Zone

I've found myself to really enjoy movies with modern war themes, especially ones with a layer of conspiracy, and definitely count myself amongst fans of Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon. So I went into Green Zone fully expecting to like it and wanted to to temper my reaction to evaluate it for what it was and avoid being influenced by my personal tendencies. Green Zone ended up taking care of that for me though. It wasn't as fulfilling as I had hoped, and tracked into political grounds that were...

Posted March 14th, 2010 at 11:51 am No Comments »
As expected Alice in Wonderland came in #1 having fended off four new entries in theaters. All four of them actually came in under industry expectations but in the same order that most expected. Alice has now made over $200 million but will have only one more weekend with most of the 3D screens. Green Zone, the Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass re-teaming, came in under $15 million despite a strong marketing push and ties to the Bourne franchise. Reviews have been mixed (mine will be up today ...
