Review: A Nightmare on Elm Street
Several horror franchises have successfully rebooted over the past few years by offering an updated stylistic look and fresh take on the stories. The Platinum Dunes production company has been behind a few of those including Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th. A Nightmare on Elm Street will not be able to lay claim to a similar feat as the others.
Jackie Earle Haley did a good enough job as a replacement for Robert Englund in the role of Freddy Krueger. However the other performanc...
Top DVD Sales and Rentals for Week Ending April 25, 2010
It should come as no surprise that Avatar was the top selling DVD last week. Despite not being released with any extra DVD content, the blockbuster still set the first day sales record. Even though sales were great, it didn't manage to take the top spot in rentals. The Blind Side made a huge jump from the fifth to the top spot. Maybe the NFL Draft had something to do with it? Below is the list of DVD sales and rentals for the week ending April 25 2010:

New ‘Splice’ Trailer
Earlier this month, the first trailer was released for the new Sci-Fi Horror film Splice. A new trailer has debuted on Myspace.com. I think this trailer is much better than the first. We get a better look at the creature that is created in the film. Splice will be released in theaters on June 4.

The Ring 3D in the Works
The next franchise in line for the 3D reinvention has begun development as news on The Ring 3D hit yesterday. The Ring released in 2002 and followed up with a sequel in 2005. Combined they made over $200 million domestically and performed exceptionally overseas. Counting in the foreign takes they made over $400 million. The sequel dropped off though by nearly half which is why the idea of another film was shelved. Of course the 3D craze is giving studios the motivation to resurrect old franchi...

A handful of solid movies releasing this week. I had the chance to see It's Complicated and thought it was fairly entertaining. The romantic comedy scored well in reviews and received a 'fresh rating' on Rottentomatoes.com Also releasing is the fantasy film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. As some might remember, this was the last feature film Heath Ledger appeared in before his untimely death. Here is the full release schedule broken up by standard DVD and Blu-ray:
