New on DVD: Week of May 10
After a bad week for releases, this weeks is a bit better. The big names this week include Legion and Daybreakers. Even though I'm a sucker when it comes to action/horror films, I wasn't all that impressed with either. I did find Daybreakers to be a bit more enjoyable, mainly because of Willem Dafoe. The Karate Kid is also releasing on Blu-ray. Here is the full release schedule broken up by standard DVD and Blu-ray:

Apatow & Rudd Teaming Up For New Comedy
MTV caught up with Judd Apatow to talk about Paramount’s decision not to move forward on an 'Anchorman' sequel. During the interview Apatow mentions that he is currently working on a new project with Paul Rudd.
"I'm producing a movie that Paul Rudd's in that's shooting in the fall which David Wain wrote with Ken Marino, and they're going to announce that soon," he said. That's all Apatow would reveal. "We talk now," he said.
Rudd will once again team up with Role Models writers Ke...
Early Rumors of Kick-Ass Sequel
I've made no secret of my love for Kick-Ass but its performance at the box office has been somewhat disappointing. It didn't turn out to be a huge hit that some, including Lionsgate, had been hoping for. That being said it is already profitable and cruising to a respectable take. It cost just $30 million to make and has pulled in a worldwide total that is currently at $73 million. Its prospects on DVD are also encouraging.

Bird has previously directed a number of animated films including Ratatouille, The Incredibles, and Iron Giant. The film will be produced by JJ Abrams and Tom Cruise returns in the starring role as Ethan Hunt though the character may be in a transitional period of sorts as M:I4 is being talked about as bein...

$52 Million Opening Day for Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2 has made off with an estimated $52 million in its first day. That number includes the $7.5 million made from late Thursday midnight shows. The $52 million places it seventh on the list of highest opening day grosses. Based on these numbers the weekend take will likely finish right around $130 million. That would make it the fifth biggest opening weekend in history.
Industry expectations pegged IM2 in the $140-160 million range, giving it an outside shot of topping The Dark Knight...
New Trailer for Inception
While Super 8 has gotten most of the attention the last few days, another new trailer debuted on Iron Man 2 that is creating a buzz. Another trailer for Inception, the Christopher Nolan film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is also attached to prints of IM2. The difference here is that the release of Inception is nearing and it still remains somewhat mysterious. The movie is a contemporary science fiction thriller about a corporation that has developed a technology that can enter dreams and extrac...
