Two films on completely different paths arrive at the box office this weekend. Toy Story 3 is certain to be huge and the buzz is astoundingly high, while Jonah Hex is expected to bomb with buzz that couldn't be much worse. 15 years after the original and 11 years after the sequel Toy Story 3 is storming theaters with hopes of being a record breaker. It will have a chance to be the biggest June opening ever. The record is currently held by last year's Transformers 2 with $108 million and in ...

We don't see much in the trailer but we do a quick glimpse of what the 'Smurfs' will look like. The Smurfs is slated to release release date of July 29, 2011. (more…)...

The first photo from the Dreamworks film Real Steel has arrived providing an opportunity to get at least a glimpse at how the futuristic film will look. In Real Steel the year is 2020 with boxing between humans having been outlawed and replaced by combat between giant robots. Hugh Jackman stars as a former boxer turned trainer/promoter that rescues a robot named Atom from a junkyard and enters it in the World Robot Boxing League. Motion-capture animation is used for when the machines are fight...

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are in talks to direct Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Nicolas Cage is also negotiating to reprise his role as 'Johnny Blaze'. Plot details weren't discussed, and it's still up in the air whether or not the characters from the first film will return. Shooting for the film is slated to begin this fall. I think the choice of Neveldine and Taylor as directors is a good one. Even though Crank was over the top, I still ...

Word is out that Fox has offered Robert Rodriguez the directing gig for Deadpool. The movie would center on the character, played by Ryan Reynolds, which appeared briefly in Wolverine. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) are writing the script. Most recently Rodriguez executive produced Predators and is preparing to direct Spy Kids 4 and Sin City 3. He has already turned down an offer to direct the Planet of the Apes prequel so whether he will decide to take on Deadpool remains uncert...

It's another solid week for movie releases. The Book of Eli will probably be one of the more popular choices of the week. The action/drama received mixed reviews amongst critics, but still did well at the box office. A couple of other films I recommend checking out are Youth In Revolt and Unthinkable. Both at the very least should be rented. Here is the full release schedule broken up by standard DVD and Blu-ray: (more…)...
  • First ‘Predators’ TV Spot

The first TV spot for the upcoming Predators has been posted on Youtube. The footage in clip is stuff we've seen from the previous trailer. What I found interesting was the TV spot says the film has not yet been rated. I would think with all the blood, gore, and violence this would surely get an 'R' rating. Predators is slated to release on July 9th. ...

So far most of the discussion around Transformers 3 has been centered on the casting. However in a new interview Michael Bay has laid out some expectations for the upcoming film. Among them: The movie will be in 3D. It isn't specified if it will be filmed in 3D or converted in post. This will end Transformers as a trilogy. Shockwave is the lead villain. Features the space race between Russia and USA. Less sophomoric humor. Hopefully that means less humping dogs....
