    Last week 2K Sports revealed that Jay-Z would be "executive producer" of NBA 2K13. What his role entails is selection of the soundtrack and influence on the general look of the game including elements such as menus and intro videos. Immediate response to the announcement was notably mixed. Had 2K not declared it to be the biggest news in their history beforehand it probably would have generated a better response from fans of the series.     The complete uncertainty surrounding NBA Live 13 continues with the latest that the product could end up being a digital release. If that is the tactic being put into play by EA Sports it's one they'll likely regret. There is the necessity to differentiate from the entrenched competition but limiting the market and reducing value is not the way to do it.  (more…)...
  • NBA 2K13 to Feature Kinect Functionality

    This year EA Sports began integrating Kinect for Xbox 360 functionality within several sports titles. Tiger Woods 13 was the first while Madden NFL 13 and FIFA 13 are soon to follow. 2K Sports is also looking to take advantage of the over 20 million Kinect systems out in the wild as NBA 2K13 will feature it as well.     There has been a lot of speculation around NBA Live 13 given the actions of EA Sports. The game is being hidden right now and they are actively cultivating a perception that something is severely wrong with the title. That the discussion amongst consumers about Live 13 is trending towards whether it will even release or not - and EA doesn't seem to mind that stories have to be written saying they haven't actually cancelled it yet - says a lot about their confidence towards the product should...

    The video first revealing Jay-Z in an "Executive Producing" role with NBA 2K13 leaked yesterday and it now appears the news represents what had hyped for the last two months by the company as what would be the biggest announcement in the series' history. Jay-Z not only hand picked the 24 songs for the soundtrack but also had input on the overall look and presentation of 2K13 including intro videos and menus. 19 of the tracks are available to listen to now through Facebook.
