The Xbox One and PS4 versions of NBA 2K14 suffered through a stretch in which they utilized a roster that was nearly two months old. That has finally come to an end as the first roster update has arrived for the new systems. A new update has also been released for 360 and PS3. Changes include injuries being reflected for players such as Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo (plus Kobe Bryant who wasn't injured in the base roster), Chris Paul moving up a point to 94 overall, Kevin Garnett going up ...
  • Severe Issues Continue to Plague Next-Gen NBA 2K14 Even After First Patch

The instances of NBA 2K14 crashing on PS4 and Xbox One reported originally last week have continued, and seemingly even amplified, following the patch that released yesterday. While consumers have experienced crashes when playing games and in a variety of modes where the majority seem to be occurring are within MyCareer mode. For many the mode - which is often cited by 2K Sports as being the most played and arguably represents the biggest selling point of the product - flat out does not w...

The first post-release patch for NBA 2K14 has arrived on the PS4 and is expected out on the Xbox One within the next few days. 2K Sports will only say it addresses issues with MyCareer save files and connectivity problems in the online mode The Park. Nothing on whether it will help with the crashing many are experiencing or other server-related troubles that have plagued 2K14's otherwise impressive release on the new systems. Considering the 2.3GB size of the update it would seem likely t...
  • NBA Live 14: Hits and Misses

When EA Sports cancelled NBA Elite 11 and NBA Live 13 the company attempted to capitalize as best they could on the failures by framing the decisions as if they had done consumers a favor. That of course was not the primary consideration behind the moves to cancel them - however in the end it has to be recognized that no one felt ripped off over the four years since their last sim NBA game released. That was a big reason that many remained open to the return of NBA Live along with the new...
  • Next-Gen NBA 2K14 Rosters Now Outdated By Over a Month

While there has been plenty of justified grousing over the lack of post-release support - both in quantity and quality - from 2K Sports in regards to the NBA 2K series in recent years one of the advertised features for NBA 2K14 was "Dynamic Living Rosters". The hope was that would bring an end to inconsistent and inaccurate updates. While the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of NBA 2K14 has gotten a fair number of roster updates (though not fulfilling all promises) the Xbox One and PS4 have yet to r...

2K Sports has taken to social channels to announce a patch for NBA 2K14 on the Xbox One and PS4 that will be out within the next week. The update will target issues related to MyCareer save files and connectivity problems with the new online mode The Park. It's uncertain if the patch will address much of anything beyond those two things including the high frequency of crashes being experienced by a significant number of consumers. Considering that the messaging was limited to just MyCaree...

  • Differences in Xbox One and PS4 Versions of Madden NFL 25 and NBA 2K14

One of the most common questions out there relating to the Xbox One and PS4 is whether there are any differences in multi-platform games. As far as sports games go on a technical level there shouldn't be - they are running at the same resolution and framerate - but that doesn't mean they are exactly the same. Continue on for my observations after having played both Madden NFL 25 and NBA 2K14 on the two consoles.  (more…)...
