Though the developments related to college-based video games have been covered extensively here over the years, the reasoning for their disappearance and the potential of their return remain the most inquired about subject from readers. It's difficult to summarize everything that led to their downfall or the chances of another being made without going through the entire history behind it all and how we got to where we are now. With that in mind, one of the launch articles I put together a...

Earlier this week I posted a comprehensive simulation of the NBA Finals with NBA 2K15 at Hit the Pass. It included game summaries with highlight clips, stats, and analysis. When publishers complete and hype their own simulations they typically just hit a button and provide the result. Actually watching the games leads to the emergence of storylines and the ability to identify drama that takes place within them. As Game One played out last night - the Warriors outlasting the Cavaliers i...

We've known about Spike Lee's involvement with NBA 2K16 since April but today 2K Sports finally confirmed his presence with the game and explained the role he's had in shaping the popular story mode first introduced in 2K14. Lee has written and directed the mode for NBA 2K16 and it appears it'll no longer feature your created MyPlayer, at the very least in name. Instead the story focuses on a player named Frequency Vibrations - and no that's not a joke - whose "personal exploits off the c...

After a week's wait for the 2015 NBA Finals to begin, they'll finally tip-off tomorrow night. The Golden State Warriors take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in a series heavily favored to go the Warriors' way. Over at Hit The Pass, the new website headed by myself and Rich Grisham that launched today, is a run-through of the entire series as simulated in NBA 2K15. Every single minute of every game was watched and noted and then highlights were pulled along with statistics and analysis. Rost...

2K Sports recently revealed three new historic teams for NBA 2K16, and strongly hinted that there are other teams being added as well. It's been a few years since new teams were introduced into the series so it's fairly big news. They are the 99-00 Toronto Raptors, 00-01 Los Angeles Lakers, and 07-08 Boston Celtics. In a piece written for Sporting News the three teams are examined in greater detail including the level of success they had, their rosters, and the role classic te...

When discussion arises regarding the greatest teams in the history of the NBA, the two that generally get the most support are the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls and the 1985-86 Boston Celtics. So, what if these teams were able to face-off in a seven game series? It's possible only by using NBA 2K15. With that in mind a series simulation was arranged and played out to maybe a surprising, but undoubtedly definitive result. Check out the complete simulation which went up on Sporting News today...

2K Sports announced today that NBA 2K16 will release on Tuesday, September 29. However those that pre-order the game will get it on Friday, September 25. Interestingly with the release date moved up into September that appears to represent a change in the latest licensing contract with the league which begins this year with 2K and EA Sports. Traditionally the NBA has restricted games from going out prior to the first Tuesday in October. In addition to getting the game earlier the pre-o...
