NBA Live 09 Patch Details
While the patch status for NBA Live 09 remains in question, we do finally have the details of what is being included. As expected many of the well discussed gripes such as shot percentages, delay in attempting shot blocks, and improvements to Online Team Play are included.
It sounds as though there are numerous fixes/improvements that aren't specifically mentioned so we'll be looking for or coming across them on our own. Hopefully they'll wipe out the current record and stats in OTP given the...
Upcoming NCAA Basketball 09 Patch
While we knew that the authentic schedules were going to be patched in for NCAA Basketball 09 following release of the game there will be more included in the patch. NCAA Strategies has received information on what the patch entails and when it is expected to be out.
The targeted date for the patch to arrive is Thursday December 4th. Incidentally that is the week that the game was originally scheduled to be released before they moved it up by two weeks. Along with the authentic schedules ...
Pastapadre on NCAA Strategies Podcast
Time for another podcast as I joined Chris Jacobs from NCAA Strategies to discuss NCAA Basketball 09 as it nears release. Topics were pretty wide-ranging and include general demo impressions, the perception of the game and apathy towards it, whether enough was done to pull in the abandoned College Hoops crowd, and how college games have a distinctive disadvantage compared to their professional counterparts.
For all ways to listen to the podcast you can check out the posting on NCAA Strategies...
NBA 2K9 Dominates Basketball Sales
The full Top 20 in sales for October has been released by NPD. NBA 2K9 placed at #9 with the 360 version selling 202,000 copies while the PS3 version came in at #17. Not even the 360 version of NBA Live 09 was able to reach the Top 20.
This is a huge increase year over year for the NBA 2K series. 2K8 didn't make the Top 10 last year meaning it sold less than 117,000 copies on the 360. While many sports titles haven't seemed to grow much with increased user base clearly this isn't the case...
The DNA of a Trade
Lets look at the early returns from the Allen Iverson - Chauncey Billups swap through the latest in NBA Live 09 DNA via 365. As the year goes on it'll display a more precise picture of how the trade changed the Nuggets and Pistons but it's interesting to look at it even on the basis of the first couple games. Will the teams adapt more to the new player or the players to the system?

NCAA Basketball 09 Demo Videos
Having resolved the audio problems while recording I wanted to post up a couple videos from the demo. Kentucky is a half-court team, Tennessee up-tempo, and the two classic teams are balanced. The teams playing to their tempo should be evident through the videos. Make sure to check out my impressions as well as read through the comments on the last couple articles for more thoughts on the NCAA Basketball 09 demo from the community.
The first is Kentucky @ Tennessee followed by 79 Michigan...
NCAA Basketball 09 Demo Impressions
The NCAA Basketball 09 demo came out earlier today marking the release of one of the more important demos we'll see given the circumstances. In a good move EA included four different teams, the ability to change cameras and difficulty levels, and made it a full eight minute half. Structurally it is one of the best sports game demos ever offered. How the game is being received though seems to be mixed, with some seeing improvement over Live 09 and others actually thinking it is a step back fr...
