NBA 2K11 is getting rave reviews for its gameplay and offline modes and deservedly so. Once I have had enough time with the game to comfortably craft my impressions that will be a big part of the discussion. However the main concern going into the release of the game was how well online play would hold up. Two days into release now it is fair to start evaluating online. (more…)...

The Michael Jordan mode most heavily marketed in NBA 2K11 is the "Jordan Challenge" which presents a set of 10 different scenarios to complete based on many of the biggest moments in his career. I went into the mode uncertain of whether it would be something that I'd continue playing past making a few, likely futile, attempts. Despite some initial frustrations it has almost an addictive quality to it and I am enjoying it much more than anticipated. (more…)...
  • NBA 2K11 Hard Drive Evaluation

Continuing with the series of Xbox 360 hard drive installation evaluations I've gone through and compared several areas of NBA2K11 based on loading times from the disk vs the hard drive. With the NBA 2K series the initial booting sequence has typically been lengthy due to how many different things load prior to reaching the main menu but within the menus has generally been quick. That is definitely the case again this year. NBA 2K11 is the biggest install of a sports game yet but unfortunately...

The highly anticipated release of NBA 2K11 arrived today, and by most accounts it is living up to the hype. There have yet to be any serious issues discovered affecting enjoyment early on and though there are reports of trouble with online that is not unexpected for a launch day. I'll be posting some articles in the coming days related to the game including impressions of various modes and online play. Until then leave your thoughts on the game in the comments!...

NBA Jam includes unlockable Democrat and Republican teams. ESPN has revealed the rosters for both of them. The Democrats have President Barack Obama, VP Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, Hilary Clinton, and Al Gore. The Republicans are made up of Sarah Palin, John McCain, George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney. For the time being the codes to unlock them remains unknown. This news relates to the Wii version of the game which released today. It has not yet been confirmed that they will be included in the 36...
  • Downloadable NBA Jam HD Also Exists

When NBA Elite 11 was delayed it was announced that NBA Jam would get its own separate release on the 360 and PS3. Because of that it seemed extremely unlikely that, should anyone get a hold of a copy of Elite, they would be able to retrieve Jam. Codes were placed on inserts in copies of Elite in order to download the game but the content would have to be available in the first place. Surely Microsoft and Sony would have removed it at EA Sports' behest immediately right? (more…)...
  • NBA 2K11 Anticipation Reaching Unprecedented Levels

With NBA 2K11 set to arrive in stores tomorrow the buzz is sky high. Consumer excitement is there for the game in general, but undoubtably it resides in the spotlight largely due to the inclusion of Michael Jordan. This is the first time that a basketball game has really transcended the typical group of sports gamers with the release becoming almost an event...much in the same way as how Madden launches every year. Not having a competitor is only accelerating perceptions and exposure at this s...
  • EA Sports Adding Content to NBA Jam HD

According to NBA Jam creative director Trey Smith efforts are being made to add new content into the HD version of the game now that it is free of its ties to NBA Elite 11. The info comes from a Toronto radio show interview as relayed via Neogaf. There was really no "complete" version of NBA Jam as the Wii version (releasing tomorrow) does not include online play and the downloadable HD versions were to miss out on the "Remix" mode. With the company now looking to recoup some of its losses ...
