Both Gamefly and Amazon have changed the release date for NCAA Basketball 09 to Tuesday November 18th. While there is no confirmation of a push up in release for the game it does seem curious that two retailers would change it from the previously announced December 3rd with both settling on a date two weeks earlier. Currently the official website for the game and Gamestop still display NCAA as releasing in the first week of December. Occasionally release dates on retail sites will fluctua...

EA Sports has revealed the Top 25 rated teams in NCAA Basketball 09. Leading the way this year is North Carolina. The winner of the National Championship last year Kansas comes in at #17. I'm especially encouraged to see Washington slip in at #25. The way things are going for teams in Washington State though will I'm fully expecting a terrible season ahead. Continue on to view the full Top 25. IGN has also posted up news on and an interview regarding the partnership with Blue Ribbon, whic...

The producer blog details the use of the NBA Live engine and how they've improved upon it and made it unique for the college game. We needed to continue to capture everything that is unique about college basketball – from...

EA Sports has posted up the first video featuring NCAA Basketball 09. Keep in mind this is a teaser so it doesn't contain a whole lot of substance. The newly rebranded college basketball franchise is hopeful to improve in quality and offer a more immersive college atmosphere and experience. It is currently exclusive to the official website for NCAA Basketball 09. Immediately I was able to indentify some of the traits of the NBA Live engine that the game will be using this year. Does this ...
  • NCAA Basketball 09 Community Event Recaps

While there are still details to be revealed about NCAA Basketball 09 the recent community event offered a good opportunity to get a feel for how the game is shaping up and the direction EA Sports is taking the franchise. Overall it sounds as if the gameplay will be vastly improved and the new tempo feature will deliver, however the game is lacking the pull of a secondary mode (such as Be A Pro) and online play will be deficient. Two write-ups which cover most everything there is to know ...

A few days ago I stated I was struggling with finding much reason to anticipate NCAA Basketball 09 after hearing there would be no Be A Pro or Online Team Play included. Granted it sounds as if the gameplay has been vastly improved and the tempo feature sounds great. But still after the OTP, Online Dynasty, and EASHL experiences I have realized that I no longer have the same interest level in playing these games the old standard way. It is pretty clear that the online aspect of NCAA Basketba...

  • Kevin Love is the NCAA Basketball 09 Cover Athlete

In news that comes as somewhat of a surprise, Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves is the cover athlete for EA Sports NCAA Basketball 09. Love entered the NBA Draft after his freshman season at UCLA and was taken fifth in the draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. He was then involved in a trade for OJ Mayo that sent him to Minnesota. He averaged 17.5 ppg and 10.6 rpg and helped lead UCLA to the Final Four. Love was certainly not the most likely choice to get the cover. Both Derek Rose and M...
