2K Sports has released a brand new trailer for NBA 2K11. There have been two previously, the first included primarily 2K10 footage and the second was a brief teaser for the inclusion of Michael Jordan. This is an extended look at the game, presumably all 2K11 footage, while mixing in Jordan and some other historic teams/players. I especially loved seeing the Sonics! As always trailers such as these are all about flash and not necessarily substance so they can be fun to watch but probably no...

ESPN has revealed details on "Creating a Legend" mode which will represent another usage of Michael Jordan in NBA 2K11 (not to be confused with NBA Elite 11's "Become Legendary"). The single-player "Creating a Legend" mode will be unlocked once all 10 of the scenarios in "The Jordan Challenge" are completed and involves introducing a rookie version of Michael Jordan into today's NBA. The user is locked into controlling Jordan just as in the "My Player" to progress throughout this new career. ...
  • More Influential: Michael Jordan or NBA Jam?

The NBA is pretty much the only sport these days that features a legit head-to-head competition between companies. That is being evidenced even more this year with both 2K Sports and EA Sports making big moves for consumer interest and market share. 2K Sports signed Michael Jordan as the cover athlete and NBA Elite 11 includes a free downloadable copy of NBA Jam. Which one will have a stronger influence on a potential purchase decision? Michael Jordan: The greatest NBA player of all time is...
  • First NBA 2K11 Hands-on Preview

IGN has posted up the first hands-on preview for NBA 2K11. Most of the focus is on player control, the lack of which has been one of the central complaints towards the 2K series over the years. That looks to change this year with animations that can be broken out of and refined controls. The game will also receive some new options including Total Control Passing and a new play calling system with plays designed for individuals, both of which were first introduced last year in NBA Live 10. Whi...
  • NBA 2K11 Soundtrack Revealed

2K Sports has released the full soundtrack for NBA 2K11. I recognize maybe seven or eight of the artists so I really have no idea whether the complete lineup is going to be an enjoyable one. Snoop Dogg contributed an original song to be the theme for the game this year and I'm strangely intrigued that a song by Ron Artest has been included. Continue on to check out the full track listing and leave your thoughts in the comments! (more…)...
  • NBA 2K11 Will Utilize Playstation Move
    by

The Sony Holiday Catalog includes a list of titles that will have Playstation Move functionality. Many of them are games that are intended to showcase the motion controls, while others are current titles that will be implementing it as an alternate scheme such as Tiger Woods 11 and (and next year) MLB 11: The Show. NBA 2K11 is now confirmed to feature Playstation Move as a control option, and though it was mentioned at E3 (which slipped by me) how it will be used remains unknown. Like the o...
  • No Early Draft Combine for NBA 2K11

After some speculation the news has officially come down that there will be no Draft Combine released for NBA 2K11. An extension of My Player mode which provided character creation, drills, and scrimmages for the start of the career mode came out over a month in advance of the release of NBA 2K10 as a download on XBL and PSN and sold for $5. In many ways it was essentially a quasi pay-for demo with it being the first opportunity to try out 2K10 arriving even well before gameplay videos. The...
